JB4, waterproofing it ?

I installed the JB4 recently. It came in the supposid weathwrproof plastic housing.

I washed my car, and noticed a little bit of water that gets on westherseal near my JB4.

Is it ok for me to wrap the JB4 in a plastic bag etc with zip tie end closed ? Or will it build condensation inside of the JB4 unit / elec board ?

they sell a aluminum enclosure, it is worth it. Esp in our climate, I tried there rubber cover before the aluminum one came out, my board fried itself after a year or so. I bought the aluminum one shortly after.

I bought the aluminum cover and I couldn't get it to fit with the JB4 Bluetooth connected. The most recent plastic housing seems to have the waterproof gasket inside too. Maybe this is a new update? (Like including flexfuel wires with all new JB4s?

I have the bluetooth, you need to take the cover off of the connector.

It fits. You are not removing the bluetooth connector cover per the directions.

I have this case, bit not sure the end where cables come in, or condensation.

Will the box build comdensation inside ?

Can i just put a ziplock bag around the weatherproof case as an added safety measure ? Or will that add condensation inside ??

Sorry for the cautious rant, bit i live in florida and its constanly raining, and or i wash my car once a week too.

The o-ring seal inside prevents any issue with water or condensation. Nothing else is needed.

I had the same issue and my board started to corrode. I finally got the aluminum case and the issues I saw which were engine malfunctions post washing it went away entirely. It isn't cheap but super worth it to get the aluminum enclosure.

Not related to water issues Mike, but if JB4 is installed on a Stock car with no Bolt ons, what gains are we expecting as Oppose to AA8 ?

The JB4 is the only tuner with CANbus access which means it has access to every possible engine parameter and is the only tuner with full fuel control and wastegate control. The other tunes are more equivalent to the BMS Stage1 tuner which is analog only in nature so you should be comparing with that.

I made the screws from the connector work to secure the plug. run the nut over the screw with the dead space until it bottoms out. tighten evenly. otherwise you will have to find another shorter screw to fit.

Just put a balloon or condom over it. If you're worried about condensation put a small dehumidifier bag in the balloon with it.
