M2 sounds good, but I'd be interested in hearing an M235i with a performance exhaust, a slightly modified N55 engine, and perhaps a more aggressive suspension and exterior.

Opps, that car is called the M2...
why does it have to turn into this every thread as if the m4 vs m2 can't be enough for people to argue about

I have a m235i with a slightly modified n55 h&r springs to stiffen it up the adaptive suspension and 19 inch wheels and exterior bits .... Oops My car is a m235i while we are at it I also got it new for 15k less then a m2 with only dct will start at. O and yeah I have had it for a year and a half before the m2 has shown up on anyone's driveway ... I have read a few times "who would buy a m235i OMG who would even consider it or the m2 is better..." obviously the m2 is a more refined car with better "everything" but to act like the m235i and its owners are some how trying to compensate for the m2s arrival and justify their purchase or something ...

Everyone should just enjoy their F'ing cars for what they are and go for a drive

Just funny "M" elitism shouldn't taint such a great car and platform , the 2 series idea is something any BMW enthusiast should embrace completely , in a world of cars getting bigger the 2 series brought a BMW m car back to the perfect size for a drivers car, there shouldn't be any room for this type of mines better then yours competition, how about they are both great but one is more purpose built.. I'm sorry my car doesn't have the wider fenders and m4 components , I am in the middle of figuring out an order for my comp package m3 and when it comes I'm not gonna be on the m2 forum throwing around stupid post how the m2 has a regular series engine n55 and how the interior is the same and the mirrors don't have inlets and how my 0-60 is faster by .01 sec then you so HAHa your car isn't a "Real M" only mine is !

Be happy with your m2 anyone who orders one or has one , it's gonna be the most amazing car to drive and live with . I know this because if it's anything like an m235i but with the M switch turned to 11 it's gonna be one hell of a car ! And I am not looking to pay sticker or above retail or whatever the F you have todo to get an m2 right now plus the 4 doors will work for me at this point in my life.

That's my piece.

(Meanwhile the all motor M purist are laughing at all of this)
Lets be realistic, if you knew the M2 was only a year and a half away and its just few grands$ more...you will not buy a m235i

Whoa... first you criticize people for arguing, then state your claim to your side of the argument. If you love your car as much as it seems you do, then why do you give flying F**k what anyone else thinks. It seems like all you are doing it trying convince yourself that your happy not having an M2. After all the original post was made on the M2 forum. It wasn't posted on the 2-series forum. FYI I have my name on the first allocation my dealer has for an M2 and I'm not paying over retail. All I had to do to get this deal was tell the sales manager at my local dealer that I wanted an M2 a year ago.

Id like to clarify I don't give a F , Honestly don't, but Im a member here for a long time and it never fails that this happens, M2 owners aren't all to blame , I do believe there are m235i owners that are out here trying to discredit the m2 for dumb reason and then you have the people who have neither car who just want start something wether for the m2 or against it

Not putting a side to the argument just putting it out their that this whole, my car is better then your car is a ridiculous idea that should not happen every time a new model releases, I genuinely love Bmws cars and I have lots of respect for anyone who enjoys theirs too doesn't matter if its a e36 323is or a m6 grancoupe. I am just excited about bmws future as the use of carbon and other technological advancements will start bringing the weight down

As for your allocation , I am happy to hear you not paying over retail but it maybe too late for me. I see what is happening with gt350 mustangs gt3/4 porsches and its crazy people are speculating the market and buying them just to make big profit off them, sucks for someone who wants to enjoy the car. So Its good to hear you can enjoy your m2 without being held at the mercy of the speculators or dealers who know people want the m2 bad

...
Welcome to every car forum, for every car brand, for every new model since the beginning of the internet. People are arguing, debating, discussing various cars. Some with bias, some with interest, some with an agenda, some trying to be neutral in thinking. Nothing new here

There's a dude rolling around north Dallas who has the 235. It's the blue that's offered for the regular 2 series cars. He has removed the "35" and his boot lid is left with only "M2".

I will never understand why folks do this - be happy with what you have...or upgrade...but that kind of stuff doesn't really fool anyone IMO.

The lack of similar materials didn't keep the 1M from being a great car. It's not going to adversely affect the M2 either.

Folks who complain/point out those omissions fail to understand the core concept of the 1M/M2 cars. They are value propositions and an entry into M. Aka, most of the performance of the M3/4 but not much of the individuality or luxury options. BMW has to draw the line somewhere - so extra shit that distinguishes the higher range M cars won't be used. Simple as that.

Additionally, I had a 235 for 17 months. Worst BMW I've owned (it was #5) and is the singular reason I left the brand for something better. The M2 and F80 could bring me back. That's how different the real M cars are.

Exactly what I did.

By far it was the softest and most artificial. The engine was fine, but not much fun in legal speed ranges...the suspension was squishy...and from a looks perspective, it just didn't do much for me. The wheels were too small and the rear was severely lacking.

It's my own fault - I bought it sight unseen (first one in Indiana) and also bought too much into the hype...that thing was nowhere near the 1M.

Probably a good car for someone who is new to BMW, but it wasn't my cup of tea.
