Sounds really nice! I'd love to hear the stock and MPE compared side by side...it's only a matter of time now.

The MPE on M235i sounds virtually identical to the stock exhaust on M2. The MPE for M2 must be something entirely different.

I can hear M235 owners going "fawkkkk" and M2 owners with a sigh of relief .. With that sad, I'm not surprised with the results. M2 does sound good, especially with a stock exhaust.

And then there's the question of how that MPE will sound compared to Dinan, Arkrapovic, etc. Decisions, decisions...

M3/M4 sound just like the M2 with a muffler delete. The F8x exhaust just needs to open up more. I think Bmw learned from all the negative comments and made the M2 this way stock.

Did people expect the m2 to sound the same as m235i?

Of course it sounds better than the m235i, it's an m car basically with m performance parts all round including exhaust.

It's not the engine that makes a different sounds it's just the exhaust.

And yes you can compare m235i with MPE vs m2 stock as that would make it a similar setup.

M2's MPE would be similar to m3/m4, it won't be an axle back but titanium exhaust

It does sound very similar to my F30 with Akrapovic, and that is a good thing so I can't see the problem with that statement.

M2 sounds good, but I'd be interested in hearing an M235i with a performance exhaust, a slightly modified N55 engine, and perhaps a more aggressive suspension and exterior.

Opps, that car is called the M2...

Ps. MPE for M235i is the most ridiculous thing anyway, $1000 USD for basically a muffler!! (even if people are getting it for a discounted $750) it's ridiculous, when you can get a cat-back exhaust for not much more.

Isn't the M2 MPE an axle back? Thought this was confirmed

Yes. It connects a bit further than the axle but I would still classify it as an axle back.

oh really? I thought it was just going to follow M3/M4 and have a proper exhaust system.

MY BAD.

That's even worst if M2 is only getting an axle back m performance exhaust.

Excited for these comparisons. Hoping they start popping up before I take delivery sometime at the end of the summer!

There's quite a difference for sure. Between the M2 and M3/M4, not so much.

I'm sure people will retrofit the stock/performance m2 exhaust on the m235i

My biggest complaint with BMW is them not having a suitable stock exhaust for basically any of their cars. AMG's all sound amazing (and have forever), my friends RS5 sounded great stock compared to my M3 and the RS7 stock sound blows away the M5/6, and PSE on my 911 best of both worlds with the push of a button. I am sick of BMW being the only one that you have to buy a $5k exhaust to have a good sounding OEM car. I would be very excited if the M2 breaks this trend and sounds great from the factory. TBH the only BMW car I can think of in the last ten plus years that I would have been happy with the stock exhaust was my neighbors E92 335is.

Wow, the M2 sounds good.

I would love to hear from one of you mechanical gurus here about why the hell the M2 sounds so much better than my M4. Why why why???
