A stock N55 M2 is 330-340 WHP.

I would guess a stock 405 HP S55 M2 will be around 360-370 WHP.

It will be faster, yes, but more expensive too.
Current S55 vs n55 is more like 410whp vs 340whp, Dynojet STD smoothing 5, or a 70whp (80 crank hp) difference, though BMW rate them 365 vs 426 crank.

Maybe that's why residuals were so bad?

Still don't fully understand why they would potentially get rid of the base M2.

If this is the reason that residuals were that bad then BMW has lost a customer in me forever.

I believe that the reason that residuals were so bad because they didn't need any incentives to move it.

This is shaping up to be a great car, especially if they do offer a MT. The regular M2 is still amazing and will still hold it's value well. Not everyone is in the market for a 60k+ M2. Used ones will still have their place in the market, I'm not worried. The main appeal for me buying my 'original' M2 was that it was under 55k. It's an amazing value at that price point.

I will still be tempted by the CS depending on cost. For me it has to be less than 65k, come in a manual, and euro delivery has to be available without the dealer BS. Otherwise I will probably pick up a F80 before end of production.

Ground Control to Major ///M: would be very much appreciated to offer an attractive "base M2 to M2 Competition" trade-in upgrade program for the early 'base M2' adopters.

Really hope that they are not going to water down the CS just to replace the regular M2.

The CS deserves the S55 in its full glory.

I want to be able to keep up with an M3/M4 down the straight and after apex at the track.

It's a great car, just you know, if I had known the price was going to drop like a rock or it was getting the S55 engine shortly it would have been a factor in what I buy and when I buy it. Obviously there is risk in every purchase, but still... didn't see this coming.

I pick up my car tomorrow and may switch it up and go 718 or just vanilla M4 CS. Scrambling now for some deals.

Will keep everyone posted

This is fine if BMW doesn't have factory capacity for two F87 variants and has decided to move the M2 up-market. But if it really is just replacing the N55 with the S55, and calling it the same thing ("M2"), that is pretty shitty. Especially if production remains the same.

If they want to stop producing the F87 M2 and switch to a more expensive "M2 CS" (or whatever) then I really don't care and will count myself lucky to have gotten in under the wire.

And......I would not spend over 80/90K Euros or more, for a car that doesn't have A/C or the DAB radio. The M2, with the S55, I guess it will be better that the GT4 on a race track, with some M perf. mech adjustments.
Who says the GT4 does not have A/C? DAB radio?

If the CS goes into production 03/2018, and orders will start being taking 01/2018, shouldn't a reveal be very soon? Any auto show events coming up where the CS may be available?

ynguldyn maybe you have an idea on a potential reveal date?

More to the point, if the CS goes into production 3/2018, and the M2 is EOP 6/2018, then the CS is not a drop-in S55 replacement for the M2. So of those three statements/predictions, one is false.

It will be interesting to see when BMW does the reveal for the M2 CS.Especially now that we have confirmation that the current M2 will definitely be replaced by the M2 CS when it is released.BMW might want to hold off on the reveal for a while,so that people will keep buying the MY18 M2.

Well I am in the river with my crappy lci M2, it's kinda relaxing just drifting along knowing I have made such a terrible decision even though my lci dials look so digital

Hang on, just got the call, my Fabspeed DP is ready to rock, that will get me to 390ish and with a JB+ maybe another 10bhp, my God! maybe I can come out the other side, smells like redemption bro

Do we really? A single post from someone who only teases when asked if they're a BMW employee. And a single post that says only "EOP June 2018 for M2".

Personally - I'm going to enjoy the hell out of my soon-to-be-delivered M2. And it sure seems silly for anybody who had enough enthusiasm to go to the trouble to get this hard-to-acquire car in the first place, to suddenly lose interest because next year's model is "better". Wow.

Not dissing the enthusiasm for the CS - looks like it's gonna be pretty cool. But it sure seems like there is massive over-reaction going on here based on quasi-official rumor.

Just sayin ... Flame away
