CCB Option

If you’re not taking the car to the track, but rather using as a daily driver, what’s a reasonable mileage expectation before replacement is necessary?

In my first F90 I got almost 40k out of my first set of discs.

Pads were changed twice.

I've had 2 BMW's with CCB's....an M3, did 35k miles and the pads/rotors were still like new. Now an M5 with 3k miles, hoping to get in 40-50k miles (if not more).

Spoke with the chief of the workshop chief yesterday, and he said that we can easily get to 100k kms without replacing pads/rotors if the car isn't tracked.

My car is over 33k kms, never been on track and the brakes are new.

If there's no visible damage to the pads/rotors, the only way to be sure that they are used is to take the rotors apart and weigh them.

You should be getting almost 80- 100k miles.

OP is referencing CCBs not iron. Iron you should get 30-50k miles on rotors defending in driving habits.

Hello Can-am do you have any issues with brake squeal. Was brake squeal mentioned in the workshop?

Ceramics are a "lifetime" item. They wont wear down with normal DD use, or spirited daily use before you kill someone. If and when they do wear out, we'll all be in the ground by then. You do however need to pay attention to the pads, because worn pads will quickly damage the rotors.

They will squeal, sooner or later. Nature of the beast. I'll take it, no brake dust...

The brakes are absolutely quiet.

Not like my previous X5M (with steel brakes) that sounded like a school bus.

I have them on my F10 and just ordered them on a 21 Mercedes E63 wagon. Are they overpriced? Yes. Are they that much better than steel rotors given the cost ? Probably not. Do they squeal? Occasionally.

ZERO brake dust, they look amazing and will last 100k miles. Get them.

What’s the longevity of the pads? Replacement cost?

I ordered them on my '21 M5 Comp, and did much research before I did. I never had them in any of my AMG's before, but always considered them. I'm financing my M5 but as long as I get over 80k miles on the CCB's (not including the pads), then I'll be happy. I can deal with the extra noise they make, but not having to worry about break dust or the cost of a new set of breaks, I can live with that and makes them 100% well worth it.

I've never tracked a car, but for that same reason I'm expecting a lot of life out of these breaks.

They actually make a lot less noise as the steel brakes.

Mine are 100% quiet.

so far so good with around 1300 on steels on a 21 m5c. no squeals at all. last i heard, replacing rotors plus pads for CCBs can get way up there, like 10k or so.

i would have loved less brake dust for sure, but i like the blue color with DG body better too

The ZERO brake dust sold me after my E60 M5...Brake dust would appear after washing the car....
