Best Baby Car Seat?

Greetings all! I hope this finds you all well and safe great Greetings all! I hope this finds you all well and safe safe.

It looks like my family will be expanding soon and I will need a baby car seat. I did a search but could not find any suggestions for the F90M5C. My wife seems to think the best approach is to have a car seat where the seat can also snap into a stroller. Any suggestions on manufacturer and model would be greatly appreciated!

Have a great holiday weekend!

I'm curious, at 6'4 I had to sell my M5 and jump into a G12 750i to get the clearance I needed.

My wife is 5'6" and she's barely clearing the driver seat with a rear facing car seat in the back.

Ideally, you'll want an infant car seat with a base, makes life so much easier since in the early stages they stay in their carriers most of the time while out and it's nice to just clip it into the stroller.

Here is my setup currently.

Infant
Graco Snugride SnugLock 35 XT

We got the travel system so came with the matching stroller.

Since they both outgrew their infant car seats, they now have this. One of my kids is now forward facing so that made a huge diff but in an M5, my kids legs touch the back of my seat. I can't be all the way back.

For my daughter, she's still rear facing and in an M5 my wife at 5'6 can only sit passenger.

https://www.buybuybaby.com/store/pro...r-seat/5196922

I'm waiting till they are both front facing to jump back in an F90 M5. It sucks balls. I read that the car seat manufacturers tested these against the national average of 5'6" for height. That shit needs to be updated.

The one that snaps into the stroller is great until they get to be about 1-1.5 years since it starts to get a little snug, and they get pretty heavy at that point. We used the Chicco Keyfit 30 for both of our kids. It's excellent. Honestly, though, any major brand that's well built, looks good, and is installed properly will work fine. Whatever suits your needs. As mentioned above, the ones with the base where you just keep them in the seat and move the whole seat from one place to another with them in it is really useful.

Congratulations!

Unless your kid is a giant. My 9 month old daughter is 32"s tall so she's now taller than what's recommended for the max height.

My son hit his at 11 months.

hahah. Nice that they lasted 1-1.5 years for you. With two cars and me doing drop off and mom doing pickup. 4 car seats (2 each car) was. Killer.

Yup, that's what we did too. 4 car seats, different ages, etc. PITA. Our first son lasted in that seat for that long, but the second is a beast, and he outgrew the Keyfit at about 9 months lol

We have a Nuna baby seat with An extra base. It’s super easy to use and works really well! You can attach it to a yoyozen travel stroller or a regular stroller! If you travel a lot this stroller is a god send literally folds into a small square it fits in the over head cabin on an airplane!

Almost exact same situation as me except I had an E61 5er wagon and went to the 750i. I'm 6'5".

I have two Diono seats. One is called Radian and the other is Ranier (discontinued). They are longer than most so shitty when facing rear but when forward facing they are very low profile.

Gotta do a +1 on the detachable base. We used it for both kids up to 10 months. So much easier. For that we used an Uppababy Mesa base with an Uppababy seat. We have the Uppababy stroller as well. But honestly I urge you to seriously look at the Veer wagon instead of the stroller. It's absolutely money for storing stuff on the move and there are lots of accessories you can get to make them really tricked out - an extra storage basket, sun shades, a napper, and a car seat attachment. We took it to Aruba with two kids using the napper and car seat and did not miss the stroller at all. We got stopped daily by people asking what the wagon was and where to get one.

We actually are going through this now, too. I think we had bought either a Nuna or Uppababy but it said it had to sit level to be safe and the back seat slants down towards the rear of the seat....meaning the only place we could put it is in the center backseat and it wasn't at all stable there.

It was a very high rated (and expensive) seat.

Anyone else have this issue?

We had the Uppababy Mesa system for when our kids were infants and switched to the Nuna Rava when the kids got big enough for a convertible car seat. We have taken then M5 on multiple road trips and the kids seem to be very comfortable in them.

Once front facing, the Diono Radian is excellent. Our older son is in that one now. Great in the back of the Macan which doesn't have a ton of room, but being narrower and lower profile, still plenty of room even with the other one's rear facing car seat

Can't fit anyone over 5' tall in that middle seat comfortably.

I have the nuna in the m5c back right seat ! As long as the bubble touches the line The seat is safe. My X6 m however the seat was pitched back so I couldn’t haul the baby around.

APatel, what base do you have for the Nuna? Is it the normal one or the Relix?

Just using ickle bubba galaxy with isofix base that came with the travel system bundle with our newborn. The front seat backs in the M5 are pretty chunky so the front seat just had to be moved a little forwards or the seat back a little more upright, but more than enough room - baby is only rear facing at mo. Tiny price to pay for the superlative front seats

Uppababy Mesa / Vista system here. Rear-facing Mesa car seat fits in the middle rear seat (over 6’0 driver may have an issue getting this to fit though) and can still fit two people in the left and right rear seats (albeit a bit tight). If the trunk is full you can collapse the Vista stroller, remove wheels, and put behind the right front seat if it’s all the way forward. Probably not what the engineers intended but we’ve made it work. Still think the M5 is an exceptional jack-of-all-trades. We’ve been doing 4 hour trips loaded to the gills, but think we’ll probably need to add an X7 for baby #2.

A bit random but fits this thread and just did it today...the Snoo also fits in the M5 trunk if anyone is interested. I was concerned it wouldn’t but we bought it anyway and was happy to see that it did fit (more for weekends away from home).
