Quickburn7 amazing and concise review. I haven't posted on here in a while and your review compelled me to do so. I have been hunting for a different DD to add to mix to replace the '16 CayenneTurbo and compliment the Lusso/488 - we also have an RRFull size but my wife takes it most of the time. Anyhow will have to go try out the M5 now! Haven't had one in years.

P.S. You drive a ton, incredible! I probably drive at most 7500miles a year on the high side (well I fly a lot.. LOL).

Half of that is probably just leaving his driveway!

Nice write up. I agree, it's the best of both worlds. In comfort mode its pretty supple, as it should be for a luxury sedan. I think MB forgot that when designing their current AMGs.

Can't wait for mine to arrive, but can you elaborate as to why the racechip got you in trouble? I was thinking to add the chip down the road.

If I'm not mistaken (sorry if I am OP) he left it on during a service visit and someone saw it, that shouldn't have.

Fairly certain that service visit had extenuating circumstances.

It was a stupid mistake from my part. They towed it in for a flat tire and since it had a check engine light on I told the SA to check it out. I knew it had the RaceChip but didn't have the dummy cover to pull the module. I didn't think they would flag me but they did.

Great post you got here .. may i ask about your eisenmann exhaust. Im thinking to install one .. only the catback tho. And as what i knew they come into two .. the normal one and the race.

Do you have any videos with only the catbacks on? I really would like to see and know the difference from someone who tried them.

Thank you alot

Why not swap OEM pad for something aftermarket? BMW doesn't make brake pad. They got it from their suppliers too. Textar, Jurid,etc...

Hold on. What's this flagging of race chips? This is banned? I don't own my car to be able to add a chip?

Great review! And the 812 and GT2 RS are some really cool super cars you own!!! I like how you said that a 4 door sedan can match those cars in a straight line, that is just impressive and sounds so crazy to me but it's the truth!

I think the biggest reason it will be very difficult to get rid of my F90 M5 is that it is a First Edition and it feels so special! I agree with you on that.

Great post. I am just about at 19,000 and agree with everything you said. Similar story early build and no rattles despite some abuse along with some ugly New York City potholes and a few Adirondack dirt roads. Only issue I had was the early fuel injector issue which was settled. No oil burning and no check engine lights on my end so far.

Planning to keep this thing for a while.....I'm not really sure what I'd get next anyway. Maybe the M8GC when it comes out...if its really a better car.

Still don't get what they flagged you for? Does adding the racechip void any warranty? What did they do exactly?

I have had stage 1 in my f80 for a while and there never has been any problems when I bring it in for service.

Most of the time, dealerships will not notice or care if you have a tune or a chip. Sometimes, they will see it though, and they will flag your car. Especially if you came in for some type of engine warranty work. This will usually mean that any drivetrain warranty repair has the potential to be denied. It makes complete sense after all. BMW tuned the car carefully to a very specific set of parameters. If you're pushing all the components further than they were designed to, BMW should have the right to deny warranty coverage.

The mantra for tuning a warrantied car is that you have to be willing to sacrifice your warranty. Anyone that leases a car, puts a tune on it, then removes it and lets the second owner deal with the consequences is pretty lame, IMO. Forcing an engine to produce significantly more power than it was designed for WILL shorten an engine's life along with a lot of driveline components (e.g. transmission, diff, halfshafts, etc.)

Chipping? Of course it's rendering the warranty void! Racechip adds ~20% torque, meaning that also the ZF8HP75 is overstressed 20% above max design specification. You would need a ZF8HP90 like used for a Bentley.

It's only a matter of time before you'll demolish the drive train. When you would go extensive stretches flat-out: mechanical engine failure because of stress and heat build up by the power is to be expected. When you accelerate full throttle in lowest 2 gears (short bursts), you'll ruin the transmission and potentially the drive shafts and diffs because of the torque.

Proof: they upped the power of the competition (a bit), but didn't touch the torque! Why do you think?

I came from m6gc orange shakir to first edition M5. I can say it turns heads as much as m6gc, but I think because of the paint job rather than the design.
Although It can not beat the design of m6gc ( can't wait to see m8gc in person), but it's much more civil and fun to drive as a daily car.
I especially love the lack of turbo lag and "Tesla like" delivery of power.

I currently have a 2018 m3 ZCP. I haven't driven your car, but curious how it handles corners? Does it feel heavier than the m3?
