I think there's truth to the original post, but the M5 is so expensive that you've got to be at a "dad" age to even afford it. People who truly want something more raw and engaging will opt for the M2/3/4s of the world. The M3/4 aren't even that engaging anymore unfortunately.
Dad age? Never heard of such a thing.

Something for people that want more room and can afford more than an M3.
I will get this and keep my M4 vert. Different cars for different situations.

I don't even mind the design but the black windows (inserts, or whatever you want to call them) are awful. They make the wheels look small, cheap and just plain ugly!

You're right! It definitely did. He must have forgotten that

If that engine is 710hp from the factory with CP then I would say they made a meaningful step forward. I mean that is a huge step up from every competitor.

However to be honest I don't believe that will be the number.

Conservative compared to?

Front Fender Arch Flare Increase (each side):

F82 + 18mm
F80 + 28mm
F90 + 30mm

The only 4 door ///M to ever have rear arch extensions is the F80. It makes the assembly very time consuming as the production line has to stop for tooling swap and rework so F80's are built in batches to minimize the impact as much as possible.
I thought the E90 M3 also had rear arch extensions, no?
Well that's my cock up, though the E90 was more of a re-contouring rather than an max width increase.

I suppose you could make arguments for it but besides the car being larger than the e39 I don't see anything revolutionary about it. It was still well within BMW's design language. That's just my opinion

We'll find out in about 2 hours brotha. Which seemingly also coincides with the solar eclipse today.

Still one or more generations behind for that kind of power level and I don't think we see it with only combustible engines. These smaller turbo engines are going to generate too much heat at the 700hp level, so I think we eventually see larger turbos for less heat and electric motors to torque fill low down. Ahhh the limitations of pump gas.

Personally I'm a fan of how the 488 engine works in terms of the main decisions made, meaning a larger turbo, higher redline and boost by gear. Sure it's a FPC engine but the same principles could be done for the normal V8. These people that need full torque at like 1800rpm make no sense to me, i'd much rather trade off low end torque for more power and higher redline (also a turbo that pulls right to redline as well).

I don't think this is the case. E60 M5 fenders are flared.

This mirror is so ugly trying to mimic F8x...Even the X5/6M mirror is better than this...This just looks like these f3x knock off mirror caps of f8x,looks like adding a horn to the corner, no smoothing the line like f8x and x5/6M..

You go to a track and you'll hear ferrari drivers honking each other because they have horns on 9 and 3. This one's gonna be even worse, switching between awd and rwd (depending on your m1 m2 setting) and eventually frying the electronics to leave you stranded. what were they thinking?
