Wow! That is super impressive on track. It handily beat the M5C, RS7, etc.

What kind of tires it was equipped with?

It's on the second image. P Zeros.

Im too lazy to blow up the pictures but which GT63S version bested the Taycan? Im assuming it was the tires? That car is still rather impressive.

I see that but I recall that these are more of an all season, non performance oriented tire. Certainly not a PS4S in terms of capability from what my dealer has told me.

Yes the tires was the difference. I believe the faster GT63S was on some sort of semi slicks.

It's what people likes to say but the European car companies seems to like the P Zeros a lot.

Logically the cars they sent for third party magazine tests, one would think they sent the best version possible. So the fact that all F90 BMW M5s tested in Europe all came with P Zeros, maybe they aren't as bad as what people says.

Sport Auto praised P Zeros a lot, and in the same Auto Bild issue it looks like the new 911 Turbo S will also come with P Zeros, at least in Europe.

Or maybe Pirelli gave these car companies one heck of a deal to use their tires. Cars are in general made of lowest bided parts.

The Taycan and F90 come on the new PZ4 tyre, not the same as the PZero that we are all used to coming on F10, F13 etc.

In saying that I'm still a PS4S and SC2 fanboy but I don't think the different is as much as it used to be - the old PZeros were completely shit.

Sport Cup 2's for the better time and PS4s for the slower time

AMG was on a significantly better tire (cup 2s) but both are quite impressive nonetheless. The dichotomy in which they lay down the times, one being a TTv8 vs electric is rather cool to see. The Taycan should at least be an indicator that electric can be as fast or faster (in this case and likely over the AMG with equal tires) as what is currently the some of the best out there. And to think this is only Porsche electric in its infancy and would assume one of the least sporty variants they’ll make as time goes on.

There is no doubt electric cars are star performers, Tesla has already proven that, electric cars will only get better. Based on forum's past responses the lack of emotional attachment to them is the problem.

We like the smell, the sound, the vibrations and etc that comes with ICEs. But I can easily see future generations won't care because they won't miss what they never experienced.

Agreed. I owned an M5 for a year. Loved it. Spent a day in a faster Taycan. If both were equal price, buying again, hands down M5.

Turbo Taycan.

A LOT of folks will love it. I did 5 launches and it is quicker than the stock M5. The S is even slightly quicker still.

AWD Launch is totally different as it pulls in a flat manner.

Interior is awesome.

Exterior is awesome.

Everything works very well.

Rear visibility suuuuuucks.

For a one year novelty ride, it will appeal.

My neighbor traded his 991.2 Turbo for a Taycan Turbo S.

For me, no soul. I am interested in Grandson of 918 whenever it appears.

I didn't really care much for the Taycan. I found its handling impressive, but engagement to be overall lacking since there is no gear changes or sound (and the electric sound isn't that good and doesn't really mimic what the car is doing), more of just relying on throttle input and steering, but most electric cars are like that.

Steering is somewhat weak by Porsche standards and the brakes were okay, would have liked if you could do one pedal driving with it. I also didn't like the lower infotainment screen, but the curved gauge cluster is gorgeous. Its heavy, but Porsche manages to keep it feeling somewhat agile, but in braking its noticeable. Also its the size of a 5 outside and a 3 inside, even a Model 3 has more trunk space back and front.

Range is probably good enough for everyday driving but in spirited driving it does lower the predicted range, but again, same of every other electric car, and the electrify america chargers are getting mixed response. Tesla's superchargers are still the gold standard.

I'm more interested in seeing the Sport Turismo and lower trimmed 4S version of this vehicle, as it fixes the practicality issues and lowers the price, but honestly I would just buy a Model 3 Performance and Boxster/Cayman 4.0 for the price of one Taycan Turbo/Turbo S.

I think electric cars make great daily driver's but only "okay" sports cars.

EV's will make the better sports cars than ICE sooner rather than later. You simply can't match the performance of electric and the simplicity aka reliability of their drive trains or beat their low center of gravity.

More important, the EV tech is just getting started while ICE tech has peaked & stalled now that R&D has more or less stopped.
Better battery tech will come pretty fast as well IMO.

As for the emotional aspect, true, but we'll see how that improves.
Just give me the full-on tie fighter soundtrack

In any case, I believe the biggest drawback of the Taycan is that it's a 1st gen. EV but priced like it's a desirable 911. It won't have the longevity.

The Taycan Turbo S is crazy fast, it bests a M5 Competition easily. Here in Brazil there is two units of the Taycan (Turbo and a Turbo S) that are being used for homologation. Nevertheless, I have a friend who is a VIP Porsche costumer and got to have a slight crack in it. Jesus it is insanely fast. It is 991.2 Turbo S fast.

For a heavy 2 ton car, with that size it is just mental.

Yes it is 991.2 turbo S fast. Just crazy. I knew the straight line would be fast, but the track times are even more impressive, especially considering it is 5300 lbs. That said, it will only get better from here and the 992 turbo S surely will be faster. My guess is 9.9-10.1 at 138-140 mph.

Yeah the Taycan's performance figures impressed me. Another thing is that it keeps going crazy fast from 200 to 250, unlike the Tesla, and its performance does not deteriorate that much based in the battery charge. It is probably one of the more ludicrously fast cars for sale today. It is a car gets me excited to order one
