This was my biggest fear that prevented me from installing the update until now. While I don't have any actual proof of this, I am convinced this happened to me on my previous M5 and it was driving me nuts. Luckily for me, I traded the car in unexpectedly about a week later for my new M5.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Of course I didn't want to lose M1/M2 buttons, seat configurations, etc., but those could all be reconfigured relatively easily. Exhaust sound? I'm not so sure about that recovering that. My dealership couldn't do anything to revert the car to how it sounded prior to the update.

As in louder? More pops, burbles, and bangs?

Or is it more muted now?

Very interesting! I don't think I've ever heard of anyone having it go the other way.

ISTC that you can download and save your driver profile before completing a software update then upload it back afterwards to reset all the driver applied settings (M1/M2 radio buttons etc) back to as before.

I installed the update the other night. Haven’t noticed much in the way of differences except my personalized climate settings didn’t seem to be picked up after the initial install. However, after a couple of complete on/offs of the car, they seem to be working again as set with no issue.

I did the software update this weekend too. I concur with the comments of the exhaust sounding louder, I notice it a lot more than I did. Only issue I had was my remote start was disabled after, so I just had to re-enable it

Awesome, another case where it went the other way!

Haha I know right. I don’t mind a little bit. Just don’t understand why something that is found on a slammed rice burner, commonly known as a fart can, ever made it into a $100k+ vehicle as a “feature”. I just want a good sounding exhaust sound that represents the V8 and can’t be replicated on a vtech.

TBH - haven't noticed pops and bangs too much - just more of an exhaust note

I'm all for the increased exhaust note as well!

Well my car hasn’t even told me there’s an update. But it did text me to say it’s due for service. Yet the car itself says it’s not due for another 2 months.

It would be nice if BMW was clear on any changes that impacts the way the car sounds as part of an update. Whether it's quieter or louder it seems like that should be front and center on the release notes.

So has anyone seen any positives from this update? Seems like everyone is just reprogramming their settings and not seeing anything change.
