All in on 2023
Just committed to the 2023 M5C. Called the dealer and put a deposit down on the first 2023 allocation. Was told the orders open in June, get built in August, and delivered in September/October. I was sick of stressing over finding a ‘22 so just bit the bullet and decided to wait a few extra months to get exactly what I want. Now we wait. That’s going to be tough.

Would have waited....new 5 series is coming in 2024. Definitely wouldn't be paying full price for something that will be an old body style in 15 months.

To OP:
Did you get confirmation from BMW of North America that there will be a 2023 M5? I would not trust everything you hear from your local dealer.

No....2023 is still the F90 LCI.
The new 2024 5 series will be the next model (production starts spring of 2023)....and the M5 never comes out the first year of the new base model. Thus, it will be a 2025 M5....I assume we see that here starting in early 2025.

To each his/ her own but I also plan to order a ‘23 F90 before they flip to hybrid. The old body style bothers me much less than the desire of a full individual build last of an icon.

I planned on getting an M5 right before the flip myself, but with the way things are going, I am feeling it's just going to be a continued limp (no Bowers, shopbmwusa.com being a complete shitshow, etc.) with the ICE M5 going out with a whimper, drowned out by the fanfare of the hybrid. I've said it before, the M-line should just be retired. BMW is so set on being hip and woke, just let the M series die. BMW should invent a new, 27th letter of the alphabet and use it for the new hybrid and EV line. Maybe it can be written like a pound sign but with an extra hash, resembling a grille.

I had a E64 M6 V10 back in 2008....I don't think those values kept at all once they went to the V8 2013/2014 M6 or whenever that changed. That being said, you said you probably won't take delivery until the fall....so you may have more power at that time depending on where the car economy is. LCI is definitely a great car, though! I really wanted to lease the LCI when my pre-LCI lease was up in December but I couldn't wait 6 months for one to arrive (and didn't want an old model for half of a new lease) so I ended up with the X5M.

Add the 2024 M550 to that list as well. It seems the entire 5 series will be going Hybrid, which means eventually, full electric.

Alright. So things changed again. I got offered an allocation for a 2022 and put my order in today. I’m official now, have a build order, and expected to be status 112 within the next week. Fully loaded MBB with black interior, black wheels and blue calipers. They are going to try pulling strings to get me the B&W. I also got the carbon fiber mirror caps and the side skirts. Was told 90-120 days from now. Clock is ticking!

When you say halting production I’m guessing that means all production and not necessarily new order production. That means chances are, since mine is 111 still, mine will be delayed. Ugh. Gotta keep the bigger picture in mind. This war is a much bigger deal than my car.

F90 correct all the "issues" on the F10 and brought up the driving feel up as well. Every F10 I've driven felt more muted and more akin to a 7 series compared to the F90 (esp since the F10 ran on the 7 series platform). |

"Rwd in something this fast and heavy isn't a plus" I don't see any hellcat owners complaining, the car is a great car and you'll never get a transmission that shifts hard and fast enough to make it sound like it just fell put of the car again. I mean if all you care about is 0-60 times then yes the f90 "fixed" all of your problems if you didn't go with super sticky tires... |
