This is correct. And since I’m a B7 guy, had to be semantically accurate.

We can debate whether there's too much gold or too many logos, but is there *anyone* that wouldn't give back the couple pounds in weight savings to retain the armrest and storage beneath?

I thought it was unnecessary on the other CS models but it seems even more undesirable here.

Initial turn-offs are matte gold grill, side vents etc., limited color choices, and relatively modest HP increase.

After really checking out the exterior and interior photos and vids, I think this is a spectacular sport-tuned version that will likely hold its place in BMW CS history.

I view this as a car for the enthusiast with a full stable of other cars and adds the M5 CS as a dedicated "flex on your track buddies once in a while type car"... that or the hermetically sealed in the garage type.

People complaining about no massaging seats, lack of rear bench, no B&W... this simply isn't for that. IMO this would be a super tacky daily driver, and a sad restrained life for such a purpose built badass car.
I dont agree that this car is meant to be a garage queen. It is meant to be used everyday and tracked on weekends.
Yah, maybe, but I don't know- I don't think there are really all that many people who track anything on weekends, let alone a car of this caliber and price. Again, I see this as the crown jewel of a track/BMW enthusiast's toy collection, not so much a do-it-all daily that someone scrimps and saves to acquire as their main car for all their routine driving needs AND to get their kicks on a track. That just seems crazy to me as this car will be far from the best at either of those things. But, who knows.. it will be interesting to see where these cars wind up. Regardless of how most of these cars get used, I think it's awesome and happy to see the final product maintaining a strong connection to BMW Motorsport history.

Car is bad ass. Seats are sick.
At 143k not priced that bad considering its 15k more then the MSRP of my 2021 M5c minus the discount. Would a discount even be possible on this car?

Road and track states it’s available in all the current m5 color options and also 2 new colors just for the CS. Makes more sense then just 2-3 color options.
That would be really stupid to limit people to just a couple choices IMO

Love the yellow daylights. Wish there was a way to make my DRLs yellow with out a new headlight assembly

It's funny, back in the day, I added some yellow JDM-like PIAA bulbs to my brand-new 135i angel eyes corona rings because it didn't come with white LEDs lights stock, like then higher-tier BMWs did at the time..

Now, the same concept is being practiced in reverse, where the new fad will be yellow running lights to distinguish from the lower-tier vehicles..

Which, surprisingly, yellow running lights are indeed legal here in the United States, despise our wonky automotive lighting rules. So expect this hue be plastered on every other new BMW headlight, coming down the pipeline..

143 is not bad. It's pretty much the price of the new M3 fully loaded.
This one seems to look much better.

I love amber/yellow DRL's, kind of like the older Angel Eyes which had a different hue. It seems that Kia started putting Amber DRL's on their top trims of cars and I think it looks great. Now if only more US cars would have amber blinkers!

This is interesting ... I like it ... interiors like this should be standard on all M cars ... very nice - Worth the price though ... ?

They are only visible when they're on, it's there at the beginning and then towards the middle.

It's 50% more expensive than the base M5 in Germany...

In the german configurator there's only Brands Hatch Grey as the single color choice for the moment.

I'm assuming they're probably like those switchback LED lights, which alternates from amber to white, depending to commanded function.

It's like this on the new Corvette and Ferrari's running lights..

2024 BMW X7 M60  [10.00]
I just confirmed with my sales guy that I am #1 on their list for an allocation (got on the list a few years ago when this was only a rumor). Confirmed, in writing, that I won't be subject to any additional charges over MSRP as well.

Now I just have to hope that they allow additional colors as I am not really a fan of any of these so far.

Through load system,

"some driving assistance"
CD player
Comfort access

Carbon exterior package: 7kg

CCB and lightweight wheels: 25kg

Carbon seats and carbon interior: 11kg

Removal of sound deadening: 14kg

So, out of that 70kg total you could save roughly 18kg by optioning your M5 (non CS) with the CCB option. The other weight losses seems to be largely exclusive to the CS model?
First, since when is Schmee a reliable source . And 70kg is not 230lb.

Then, the 798M wheels are also optional on the M5competition, so you can factor the full 51lb. Carbon exterior package does not save weight, it adds weight with the added front splitter and larger gurney flap. And having stripped a few cars myself, I can tell that 14kg is A LOT of sound deadening, I seriously doubt it is that much.

Don't get me wrong, I love the concept of the CS and praise BMW for doing it, but there's more marketing in that 230lb figure than there is engineering.
The weight loss is quoted at 70kg

70kg = 154lbs

Perhaps imperial numbers have gone through the former Trump administration and been inflated somehow... 😜😂

If carbon exterior package includes the hood it saves weight. Not quite sure where the hood belongs to in the listing of weight loss.

I am okay with this to be honest. M8 competition cost more and less car.
Huracan is a sweet spot but I am not VW guy.
M5 CS is perfect in every direction..
