So randomly my iPhone 15 stopped connecting to my car. My wife’s X5 still shows up under settings>carplay but not my M5.

I’ve deleted the phone and reconnected. It’ll connect via Bluetooth and iDrive just fine. But it’s like my cars wifi isn’t on or something? Idk. The car acted like it was setting up CarPlay. Asked me permission etc. but nothing.

I'm by no means an expert on this stuff, but my wife got an advertisement for a connected drive feature in her X5. That drew me to the connected store in the app. All of my subscriptions that came with the car were good for 4 years. I notice from your signature you have a 2020 - it could be you just rolled past your 4 year anniversary and your included connected drive subscriptions just ended.

Not an expert either, however, if you are trying to reconnect at home near your home WiFi it has caused issues for me in the past. Try it next time you are out/away from the house.

Didn’t think that applies to CarPlay. But it hasn’t been 4 years since purchase and I’m still enrolled.

It’s a anywhere now. This is a brand new issue. Literally yesterday. Car blames it on my phone when I go into settings and try and connect to car play. But nothings changed on my phone and I’ve check all the settings I know of.

I want to say micvite had something like this recently. Can't remember if he ended up having to reset iDrive, but he did get it fixed. He's using Android, though maybe it's related. To me, mixing Android and M5 is like putting a goat in a tuxedo, but I digress.

I'm not sure what exactly happens here. Could be your subscription but it could also be iDrive acting up as well. Have you tried resetting iDrive by holding down the vol button for 30sec?

My navigation and XM were working fine just a few weeks ago then Navigation stuck at Loading. XM radio doesn't show any channels. Dealer wanted almost $700 for reprogramming. I ended up getting help from Bimmer Remote. He is an active member here as well. Got the cable from AMZN and a windows computer, he remotely connected and fixed the problem in 15 min.

I’ll try that. Part of me thinks it’s my phone but idk. Cat sees my phone. Says it’s nearby but can’t connect. It will connect regular drive to it. Just not CarPlay.

The IOS for the phone has become like Windows Lite. You have to reboot the phone more often then you'd think. Like the tech guy will tell you with ANY windows problem, "Reboot your computer" and if that does not do it, "Reinstall Windows" LOL.

Never upgrade any software unless you have a specific need to do so or feature you want.

This has been happening to us for several months. We have both an X5 and an M5. We swap cars one day a week.

I have tried absolutely every combination over the last 5 to 6 months. There Is no method to the madness as to what fixes it. Seemingly each time is different.

I’ve reset the iDrive on both vehicles no less than 10 times. I’ve turned off both phones no less than 1000 times I disconnect Wi-Fi hook up Bluetooth first and then try and reconnect to Apple CarPlay. It is so frustrating it makes you want to throw the phones out the windows.
