Do calipers need to be removed in order to be painted properly?

Quotes I’m getting (assuming calipers come off), are ~)$1,600 - which seems insane?

If anyone has a recommendation in Westchester, NY (let me know).

To do a proper job, the calipers need to come off.

I would suggest to sand them and then paint them with the color of your choice.
