Have you ever got warranty grief from DP install?
I am really contemplating on getting the AR DP's but am apprehensive about the dealer giving me warranty grief. Can warranty be refused if I have them installed? There are no emissions regulations here in Alberta, so the catless is not an issue. I have invested in the BT scan tool to delete any codes and remove the JB3 prior to service.

assuming the work is not related to the engine or turbo system, they probably wont notice if you have the secondary cats still in place, however, if you have a check engine light due to the o2 sensors (missing our reading out of range due to catless primaries), they may become suspicious

I have UR DPs, air intake, coil overs, and oil catch can. I use BT to clear any codes, pull the box and go in for regular service. As long as you are not looking to claim for an exhaust issue you'll be fine.

No, man. Just get an O2 Sim and you're good to go. It installs into the ECU just like a JB.

yep correct , thats what i would do. if you think about it its just an exhaust tube , no mechanical piece affected by ECU tuning for example. i think they would have hard to prove the Dps affected the turbos in some ways. Actually the turbos will just gain after dps because of less back pressure and heat.

I remove my o2 sims/JB3 to go in for service and have been driving for (30-50km) and no CEL light before I dropped the car off. I was actually shocked. I am sure it will come on but hasn't yet. Even scanned with the BT tool in the BMW parking lot before dropping her off and no codes. Very weird.
BTW, I have the ar catless pipes. Mike |

I would leave the O2 sim in for service, but take out any tune. Let's say your HPFP goes out. I'd remove any tune, any air intake, clear any codes (except the HPFP ones), and leave the O2 sim in place. They're not going to be digging around inside your ECU, especially if they don't see something related to a tuner code, your cat-converters, or O2 sensors.
It's rolling the dice either way, but the odds of the CEL for the downpipes are MUCH higher than the odds of them finding the O2 sim.

Again, though, especially for just routine service, they're not going into the ECU. And, not that I am condoning "hiding" it, that ECU box is pretty darn cram-packed with wires. Unless you were looking for it specifically, I don't think they'd find it. Now, if you go in with an exhaust that is rumbling the windows, and you have a CEL on, and they inspect the exhaust and see the cats have been deleted, then you're probably fudged. I dunno. The only way to be 100% safe is to return to stock before any servive.

Id take the sims out, IMO just as bad as leaving a tune in there. Gains dont justify it, if they see people f-ing around with the looms and connectors in the ECU box (which controls the whole car!), its easy to deny service or take away warantee

That's just begging to have your warranty denied. If it throws a code while there, you're up the creek without a paddle.

few people have posted saying it does not turn on right away, so unless they are going for a long test drive, then it shouldnt be a problem. If they see the sims in there, I would bet you will be up a bigger creek w/o paddles

How quickly the CEL comes on without sims is dependant on several factors; current software version, drive duration and type. A steady cruise and a more recent update of software can cause the code in just a few driving cycles and not many miles. On an older software revision, you could get away with more.
If concerned about warranty, don't touch the car. |

Now, I have catted Riss pipes, and it comes on after one week of regular driving. I am going to put the O2 sim back in.

I would definately remove all electronics from ECU first. If the light comes on while they are driving it...just play dumb. Be like, "Oh wow, I've never seen that come on before". And they will probably say because of the DPs you installed idiot. Then you say, "oh, I guess I should put the other exhaust back on then." Taking this approach seems like they would void far less of your warranty than going in with tampered ECU wiring. Many cars modify and put headers on and stuff.
