Cops here in montreal are trying to pass a law that will allow them to ticket anyone that swears at them . (not sure but it may also be treating with disrespect. lol) |

was searching online and found a company out of Vancouver that ships anywhere in Canada (kmph.ca)...selling most brands. I am seriously looking at the STi.

Thanks for the info/link - this thread has me thinking now as well - while I try not drive too fast - for the amount of hiway driving I do this could come in handy. Where are you thinking of mounting it? |

Radar
Where are you thinking of mounting it?[/QUOTE]
You want to mount it high on the windscreen for best performance. Low may be more stealthy. A V1 would be good where the police patrol with radar. Usually faster roads like Deerfoot, Glenmore, and surrounding Hwys. For laser traps its pretty much usless, unless your lucky. Odd Jobs |

Was "thinking" of mounting it in the middle(ish) of the dash with velcro ETR stickers on it in the same position as my ETR transponder to suggest that I mount my transponder there as well.

Are Radar Detectors Legal? In the US, Radar detectors are legal for passenger vehicles in 49 states. Radar detectors are illegal in Virginia and Washington DC. Federal Law prohibits the use of radar detectors in all commercial vehicles over 10000 pounds. Radar detector use is also illegal on military bases. In Canada, only Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan allow the use of radar detectors. The only detectors that can't be picked up by the Spectre IV RDD radar detector detector are the $500 Bel STI, the $1100 Bel STi-R, and the $1600 Escort 9500ci. |

ok guys... i know lots of you are worried that your detectors might be detected by detector-detectors... well i've been using my escort for a long time now and i can tell you that in the last 3 yrs, not a single cop has pulled me over because they detected my detector...
i say the only time youre likely to get pulled over is if a city cop sees you travelling on the street with the radar detector hanging off your windshield... since i use my detector only on the highway which means i am usually travelling fast enough that it makes looking into my car a lot more difficult, it is unlikely for a cop on the median to be able to see that i have a radar detector on my windshield. also most detectors have a dark mode which means it doesnt light up at all. only makes a sound. once you have memorized the different tones that correspond to the different bands of radar, you can use dark mode and just go by ear instead of leaving the detector's display on...

The jammer is OK, and the radar detector is excellent.
It is expensive to buy and install, but is very clean. Lots of guys put the display in the ashtray, totally hiding the system. I use a separate windshield mounted RD, and installed jammer. I don't like the box on the windshield but at least I can use it in my other vehicles. Right now the rear of my car is unprotected, but apparently the 9500ci rear head dosn't work that well. My jammer does have extra ports for rear heads if it ever becomes an issue. I havn't seen or heard of PO using lidar from the rear YET!! Odd Jobs |
