Spark Plugs
So, my car is misfiring above 5k or so. Seems my plugs are due for replacement. Over 18,000 miles, with track days and tuned.
I could not find a thread on this yet. I was told to get NGK SILZKBR8D8S ... can anyone confirm this, or have another opinion? Thanks |

The NGK equivalent number for that is 97506 which is what I used for the motor in the F10 M5. The engines are very similar, should work, but I have no experience yet with the F90 motor. Perhaps be safe and check with your tuner?

F90 uses different spark plugs than F10 M5, i would stick with oem for now or have the dealer change them

Can anyone confirm spark plugs need to be done at 22,000 km. ?
Did an oil change at my local guy and once he hooked up to the ecu to reset the service interval, his computer said they should be done as well as air filters. We didn't bother but wondering if BMW would have done them ? Seems too early imo. |

I had a similar situation today - brought the car to the dealer for annual state inspection and they recommended changing the spark plugs in the next few months. Car has 13k miles on it. It’s a covered cost so I was considering letting them do it, but I was surprised the car is calling for it (maintenance manual also says 30k miles before spark plugs should be changed). Are others still hearing of replacement spark plugs this early? Any issue having them replaced early? Car is amazing...hate to let the dealer have it for a day for unnecessary maintenance.

My dealer replaced plugs, oil, cabin filter, and air filters at 25KM, as a reference.
Seems like that will be the interval for this car. Even though i change oil every 7,500KM.(indy shop) between the BMW changes. |

i had same issue and took the car to dealer and they gave me a middle finger with a quote asking 1800. i asked for break down and they said 400 for part and 1400 for labor. so i just towed the car home and changed the sparkplug to ngk but tbh i think oem is better. you can use ngk if your planning to run e85 on it. Your misfire will be fixed but after little bit you will face a major issue. i will upload the video later when i have time

I just had me sparked plus cleaned after taking my car in for an oil change at 17k miles. Is it normal to clean the spark plugs instead of replacing them?

Why go through the hours of labor removing the spark plugs to not replace the $10 a piece part. |
