For fun I contacted BMW Genius about the lack of an online configurator...

Here is the response...

?At this time we do not have information when the build your own will be available on the website. More information should become available closer to launch in the Spring of 2018. We apologized for any inconvenience this has caused.?

I also asked if the competition package will be available at launch, but am waiting for the reply.

I find it so bizarre why they are holding out on the USA configurator, especially when orders have been going in for a while.

You’re my hero. I think I will do the same. I cannot believe that bmw has completely dropped the ball on this.

They gave me the same response in regards to the competition package. Albeit, I didn't really expect them to say yes or no on that question.

Strange since it is up in so many other countries.

Good call indeed. Its sad because most the best you can do right now is use the .DE (German) with google translator, which is ok but gosh, when your in the market for a $100,000+ USD car, you would think they do a little more to earn your business.

So I wander about and find myself on the Porsche and Mercedes websites, doing builds and thinking what-if..

I've been using this one since it does not require translation. Sad deal.

The problem is that the options and packages are different between the countries. Pretty annoying to have to do this. Again, doesn't make a whole lot of sense from BMW's end since the car has already been released.
