2021 Mod's... tune, air filters, etc.

Im researching tuners and thinking of going with a JB4 system for a 21 Comp. Anyone else currently running this?

What engine air filters are people running? I have access to BMC filters, however, they're oiled, which Im not a huge fan of. Anyone using this?

I seen there was a dual cone filter setup with a silicone tube for attachment, curious if anyone is running that? It looks like it could suck hot engine air...

Thanks

Intake does little. Even BMS says only 10 rwhp at 25 psi. I pulled the charcoal filters and left it at that for now. If I do intakes, it will be after going catless or high flow primaries and I will use ones that relocate filters forward to behind grille area.

I have those intakes and am running JB4 on Map 1. I'm happy with both so far. Gains from the intakes are probably not much but they sound good, which is part of what I was looking for.
As far as sucking in hot air from what I've seen in logs and watching IATs it isn't as much impact when you are moving. But I may eventually switch to something enclosed like the Eventuri.

Car is beast. Map 1, ran 10.7 quarter 2.79 0-60 on street tires with a passenger.

I have been running JB4 on Map 2 with 93 pump plus BMS WMI. Need to try Map 8. My car is heavy with sunroof and cast 20” wheels, so I am not sure I would break into the 10s. Need to try the Dragy.

Non comp. 20" 789m wheels. 93 oct for the fuel. Was dragy runs on an unprepped surface. 60' was 1.61 then 1.62 on back to back runs.
PS4s normal tire pressure.

Just got the JB4 and air filters in today...

Did some launch control hits with 91 ct fuel, 3.6 was the best it would turn out.. Definitely doesn't like 91 oct... Filled up with 94, seems to run better, will test again, then drop in the filters, try again and tuner in the next couple weeks after 2k service.

I installed the air filters and filled with half tank of 94 octane fuel, dropped 0.5seconds+ off my 1/8th and increase 4-5 MPH, with 500 higher DA air... Pretty impressive!

Went from a 7.9sec to 7.36 in the 1/8th.

So that was just air filters? This is very interesting because BMS claims only 10 rwhp gain and only when at 25 psi boost, which is well over stock.

I am guessing you remove both the charcoal filter and air filter to install the aftermarket filters. I am curious what just removing the charcoal filters and leaving clean stock ones would do.

Of course some of your gain wound also be from going from 91 octane to 94 octane, which will add a little power and will definitely ensure you are making factory power if timing or boost was being pulled due to limited octane or heat.

Looking forward to your test with the JB4 added.

Yep just air filters with charcoal removed and 94 oct. these cars do not like 91 at all. Mine idles rough with 91 and I can feel the power loss.

The air cooled down here today and I did a couple pulls on the way home. I wish I ran the first pull to 1/8th because, damn did it take off and pull hard.

The 1st pull 0-60 3.05seconds the second pull did 7.12 at 100mph in the 1/8th and I spun the front tires off the line. Pretty damn good for a car with air filters and pump gas!

I put the jb4 on today.. 94 octane and put some boostane in… it’s hot as balls out right now, bit of a heat wave here… seems like a bit more power but nothing too crazy… does anyone know what the timing should drop down to under full load??

*Posted in another thread, pasting it here as well...

I installed the JB4 on a 21 Comp. I have the EWG installed and get a drivetrain malfunction under part load boost in map2 and right away in map 3. 94oct fuel with a can of boostane in it.

What is the stock boost of this 21 comp? I logged a 3rd gear pull, boost went up to 25, 26 and even 27. Timing seems to drop down quite a bit to around 5-7 degrees on ign1. Avg Ign is around 13 or so... Are we watching the cylinder ign or average??

AFR 14.2-14.7 under the pull. AFR hits 13 then leans out to mid 14s.

Seems like it was adding ~5psi of boost vs the ecu psi... IAT was 105-106f.

Emailed Burger, they said to disable bit5 on comp pkg cars, not sure why the directions don’t say this, maybe I missed it?

Not sure if they looked at my log, there was no other comments…
