I have hopefully a quick question/clarification or two. I am about the code my car, I got the software installed got the right cable etc. I have also read the forum and other directions a couple of times to the point where I think I confused myself.
My question if when I try to connect to the car, does the engine need to be running? One set of directions I was reading say the car does need to be running, so I just wanted to verify that. Any other "gotchas" people have run into that could help someone doing this the first time? Thanks to everyone who wrote the directions, and comment. Hopefully after I do this once or twice, I will be someone who can help other. |

20) Ensure Car has adequate power and is switched on. *NOTE: A continuous power source of at least 12.6 Volts is needed. Failure to maintain proper voltage can lead to corruption of ECU Data. As such, ideally the car is connected to an external charger. In lieu of using an external charger, the car can instead be coded with the engine running in order to maintain proper voltage, which is acceptable for coding all ECU's EXCEPT the DME (Digital Motor Electronics) ECU or DDE (Digital Diesel Electronics) ECU. The DME/DDE are typically not coded anyway, so this ECU limitation is generally not an issue.

Guys I have a quick question as a rookie coder. I got a bunch of stuff done last night and tonight worked on and got the NGHB coded and sweet mama its awesome.
So after doing VO coding I lost my previous FEMBODY coding which I knew would happen but when I go to re-code that stuff do I revert to my previous FA that didn't have the couple modules removed or can i just use the current modified FA and do a straight re-code? |

Nope, but I hope you didn't code DME while the engine was running. That would throw errors.
