How do you know by looking at the "coding", as you keep stating?
1. Because there is a speed limit till 10 hours of running time
2. The car stores a specific set of flags for first service and engineers went thru enough programming to specifically track and identify this for idrive etc.

These types of efforts would not make sense if more things were not limited / detuned besides just top speed and 10 hour engine running time
So still speculation...but you make a valid point.

At 4300+ lbs - I agree that is likely what is needed. 575 WHP to 600 WHP is my guess. BMW has done this before giving their cars WHP close to their advertised crank numbers.

I think two compelling pieces of information; WTQ is higher than WHP and that should be reversed.

470 WHP on a Mustang dyno or not (higher average dynojet conversion would still only be around 507ish) is not enough for the Trap speeds it is cutting.

Front orange reflector

For the rear bumper reflector, probably a black one to replace red one...

And for the front kidnee, not sure for the black one yet ... the car is donington grey so .... will see... the kidney is proeminent on this new m5

I say take it onto a strip and see how it runs.

I'm not a believer in this detuned before break in theory.

Why wouldn't you start at about 2k rpm? The torque curve is just dropping the entire way!

We chose an unbiased company to the BMW community specializing in all wheel drive vehicles.

EVASIVE Motorsports in Santa Fe Springs Ca, uses the “Heartbreak” Mustang dyno which reads “real load” conditions as we figure the more popular Dynojet will be posted and want to give the enthusiast the most realist “upfront” information just like our Carbon Fiber products.

We did 6 pulls 3 with AWD and 3 with RWD, we will post dyno jets at later.

450 AWHP/481 AWTQ
471 RWHP/509 RWTQ

Also known as the HEARTBREAK DYNO 10-12% lower number than Dynojet.

Mustang Dynamometer is the most accurate and reliable dyno because it provides real-world loading and precise control.

Now for bragging rights Dynojet is THE MOST POPULAR DYNO IN THE US. This is why we stared with Mustang. I’m sure a Dynojet run will be up soon but for now we try to have this up for u all to see.

Eventually we will run on a Dynojet as well with higher number and for the cherry on top, Dynojet is still lower numbers than the flywheel 15-18%

they had 2 air fans on the front of the car, and it was cold and raining outside. I hope next week we can also do the dynojet as well.
after that, we have to get back to work and have full aero for this car.
the plan is to have it ready for bimmerfest may 26th 27th here in LA.

please dm me if any one needs any more info.
thank you cannan
More videos coming soon.

What octane level with the cars?

I do know that when people were first dyno testing the E63s a few months back
The car was acting real funny on the dyno. As it knew it was on a dyno and therefore was cutting power or producing weird power curves. Some guys on Mbworld figured it out how to trick the car into not being in a dyno mode to produce accurate results.
No way this car is making more than 100 hp less at the wheels than the E63
Unless it is detuned until the first service or that all of its press cars were ringers a la Ferrari

I agree the track is the real test. That said - the lower WHP number compared to WTQ is an indicator there is an issue. Maybe with the test - maybe because of the limiting tune. The WHP numbers are too low - for sure on top of that.

Is speak to the technical guys at my bmw dealer this morning. They have a break-in period of around 2000 km that the power is reduced.

They have been saying that for F10 M5 but was never proved to be true though.

Same with the F8x M3/M4. That is why I am so skeptical. Some dealers said yes, other I talked to say no.

A good test is to re-dyno the same car in 4000km !

Some who has used European Delivery asked while they are at the HQ, they said no.

So far the only people who has been saying this detuned theory are the technicians at these dealers. I never trust these technicians, some of them are not well informed at all. When I took my F10 M5 for service at first they were going to put 10W-60 oil in my car, saying thats the oil for M cars

I have X5M and M5 in Taiwan, and M6 in the US (though the M6 is now gone since I hardly spend times in the US nowadays) and I did hard break in for all three of them. None of them consumes oil and I never once felt after 2000km (or 1200 miles in the US) and initial service that the car became faster.

I’ve dyno’d a lot of turbo V8’s over the past 10 years. Never saw a torque curve like that unless the boost controller was messed up and dropping boost.
