Thanks for posting the video. I am hoping they do a comparison between the M5CS and M5C. Carwow did a review on a 2021 M5C (posted on 1/15/21). They produced a 0-60 time of 2.9 seconds (21 M5C) on a cold damp road after several attempts.

We need a review like the one that was done by The Grand Tour back in 2019 when they compared the M5 to the Alpina B5. Both vehicle were timed around the track driven by the same driver and as expected the M5 was quicker. I am sure the same thing will happen when comparing the M5CS to the current M5C. I have attached the video and the comparison for the M5 vs Alpina B5 starts at the 7:47 mark.

I was surprised to see so much brake dust on the car - I thought the ceramics don't generate much dust.

It is all pile on now, like everything else. Now everybody loves it. Is it really that different from the M5C considering it is for the most part driven on public roads?

It's safe to say that the entire automotive world is enamored with M5 CS. It will be in a museum as one of the last ICE powered vehicles with a plaque stating Perfection in front of it.

POV: you have $150,000 to spend. You buy a sensible 4-door luxury car.

You put gold wheels on it.

The 5 series is in dire need of new design I'm sure this CS is incredible but the design could be better

It still looks quite handsome and clean in my opinion.

is the M5CS more rare than the M4CS? Those things sat for ages but it seems like the M5CS might be more limited. Wonder how future values will end up. After loving my M550i and its comfort options I couldn't lose them for a daily driver.

No this is all hype, it's really just an M5C with some paint, buckets and carbon bits.

It seems the CS models that have been loved beyond BMW fans have been the cars based on already highly regarded base M platforms - M2C and M5C.

As much as I loved the F80 (owning one for 6 years) the M3/4 CS didn't quite get the same love as the other two - maybe related to the fact the base Ms they were built on were not as universally appreciated and had some notable flaws?

I don't think BMW wants to potentially impact sales by allowing a comparison between an M5C and M5CS on a nice, clear day, hah. There's already several folks on dragy's leaderboard that have run high 10.7's to low 10.8's @127-128 in a stock M5C w/ 93 octane. As well this dude (
) on YT that recently ran a 10.77 @ 128 at the track in a bone stock '20 M5C w/ steel brakes and stock 789 wheels. Think that means same day, same track, we'd probably see the CS run a tick or two faster than that, so straight-line performance is a tad quicker but otherwise about the same. The reduced sound deadening probably adds to the effect of the CS "feeling" faster than it really is.

Where it sounds like the CS would make up ground is at a real track event, the weight loss and dialed in suspension feel has everyone that's pushed both cars making it sound like it's much more communicative on the track, which would result in more confidence and quicker lap times for sure.

If you want the more track capable car + the exclusivity, the CS is 100% it, just don't expect it to be much quicker in a straight line than an M5C (or for it to have center console storage, still don't get that decision BMW)

BMW V8's have very steep depreciation curves. Maintenance costs are high and repair costs even higher.

Actually this probably applies to all German V8's.

That's even factually incorrect.
