2021 Fashion Grey Individual LCI M5 Competition

UPDATED: April 27, 2021: car is at the dealership. Taking delivery in the morning... here's a teaser photo...

UPDATED: March 26, 2021 : Finished production! At the port awaiting to board a ship!

March 7, 2021 FashionGreyM5C officially begins production. Spoke with my SA and timed out an early-mid May 2021 arrival and delivery.

Good Afternoon to everyone and Happy Friday, and a happy Friday indeed it is!

Happy to share that I have had my colors and options APPROVED on my Individual F90 M5 LCI build. I've had my F82 M4 (loaded and lots of MPE) for 6 years now and have absolutely loved every moment. I've also spent COUNTLESS hours over those years on all the boards and model threads on Bimmerpost and have kept up with much of the chatter here. Now that I have a 6 month-old son,Wife, and completed my year-long home renovation process, it's time to close the chapter of "bright, loud, 2 door car" and transition into a more serious "capable of all things" ride that still makes me grin in the morning when I start it up. I've always seen the M5 as the ultimate 4-door Super Sedan and have always seen myself driving one. I'm not a Mercedes fan, never cared for Audi, and not impressed with the Panamera line up enough to justify the very noticeable price difference. No disrespect to any of the brands and the models produced that compare to the M5, I'm just a BMW M guy.
Below is my build, I'm sure this waiting period is going to be brutal, especially near the final days. I'm not even remotely close someone you would classify as "patient," but this project will bring it out of me, as details are of monumental importance in my book. Although this is not your "everyday" color, I hope that it will blend better than my Yas Marina Blue.

Model:
• BMW M5
Year:
• 2021
Exterior:
• Fashion Grey
Interior:
• Full Merino Individual Tartufo
Trim:
• Piano Black
Packages:
• Competition Package
• Executive Package
• Drivers Assistance Plus Package
Wheels:
• 20" Y-Spoke Style 789M

Options:
• Carbon Ceramic Brakes
• Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System

Accessories:
• M Performance Titanium Exhaust
• M Performance Carbon Fiber Rear Diffuser
• M Performance Carbon Fiber Spoiler Pro
• M Performance Carbon Fiber Side Grilles
• M Performance Side Skirts
• M Performance Steering Wheel Pro

**I'd like to know if anyone has had any luck in the past with BMW sending the individual leather roll/pieces to have the steering wheel "black leather" replaced with Tartufo. Any help or contacts would be great!

I'll keep updating here as the build progresses!

Congratulations on the order. What is fashion grey? That turtufo color is spectacular. I am surprised more people do not order it. I ordered turtufo with the dark aluminum trim because I like the dark trim instead of the silver colored trim you get with the piano black. Both are nice though. Did they give you a build date?

I've wanted my next car to be some hue of Grey. I love them all, Chalk, Nardo, Grigio Telesto, and of course Fashion Grey, which is a Paint to Sample option that porsche offers. Tartufo is just simply the best option available. I was torn between this and midrange beige, but this seems so much more elegant. The Piano black will pair nicely, I'm excited!

I didn't want it to get lost in the sea of Nardo or "battleship" grey that every car maker sells now. Here is a car (NOT my car) I was able to find w Google. This was the "yes-thats the one" moment.

No build date as of yet. But I have a long standing relationship with my dealer and this person specifically so I know hes on it. I should find out any day.

Nice build, looking forward to the pics when you take delivery.

Coming from someone also w/ both Tartufo and Piano Black trim, you won’t be disappointed.

My 19' M5C lease has about 6 months left and I'll be ordering another M5 in the coming months.

Fashion Grey is one of the colors I really like; any pictures that confirmed "this is the color" would be greatly appreciated.

Am I sure? lol no! I feel as though having dialed in all of the other details and options on the car, and not opt for the "wow" factor with the CCB option doesn't quite complete the overall theme. The yellow/gold calipers would go perfectly with the paint and interior colors. I've been back and forth mentally with it, and now I think the only option left to do is call my SA.

I believe your car is fitted with them, what are your thoughts and impressions? Do you find that the "squealing" is a real issue?

Nice to see so many of you already F90 M5 owners upgrading to the LCI with leases expiring. Speaks volumes of the car.

I really didn't think there were too many ordered in this color, Rather I couldn't find any flattering pictures paired with wheels, carbon fiber, etc.

These are what I saw that helped sway my decision.

NOTE: None of these cars pictured are mine. If the owner is here- drop some pics!

I particularly liked this picture because it shows the major differences between Fashion Grey and Nardo. I was on the fence between Nardo, Lime Rock, and Fashion. Clear to see what I went this route!

TY!

Leaning in this direction but tough to really grasp the essence of this color in pix.

Hopefully you can snap some pix pf yours when it arrives ... I still have some time before I have to make a decision.

An early congrats are in order, and great choice in specs!

Just fyi, the CCBs don't have a history of squealing on the F90. The only time I do hear them is immediately after a car wash or while driving in a torrential downpour. In fact, there are a TON of threads here with complaints of the steel brakes squealing. Speaking with firsthand experience on mine, I would not hesitate to reorder when my lease is up and spec the CCBs again.

Update: After Powerbeast comment, I called the next morning and reverted back to my original plan and theme, and requested the CCB's be added back. I was told "it might be too late" about 12 hrs after the Exterior Paint was approved. I didn't understand, nor did I stop persisting. I was told this morning after calling a few people within the same dealership to make something happen- that "the request has been submitted"

I'll update once I have a "go"

Did anyone else encounter trying to change or add to their build in the same time frame and not get what they wanted?

What I was told, I will repeat "what I was told", is since I had an individual option on the car, the order was frozen four days after the order was placed. Not a big deal because the change I was inquiring about (ceramic controls and 863m wheels) are not available for order in the US. Keep in mind I ordered the car November 21, 2020 and the car did not move to Production Queue until January 13, 2021, but the order was frozen around November 25, 2020. Maybe they put in the order for the individual items to their suppliers upon order or very shortly after, I do not know. However your timeline seems pretty short. Looks like if you order a car with any Individual options you better be pretty sure you know what you want. My sales guy originally told me and others on forums have said you have up until the car moves to 150 status or enters production. This was not the case for me.

UPDATE: CCB's added. Confirmed.

I have been given a production number and now my beating up of my Amex and alarming number of packages from IND can begin all over again. Thank God, I was getting bored

Thank you brother! Technically, I haven't seen it yet myself lol

But I just got settled from work and logged into this. I'll be refreshing this every 30 min for the few months.

Can anyone give me an ETA on what to expect as far as when it will be ready for delivery? I'm guessing 10-12 weeks?
