What’s a Good Deal?

Update:

Gentlemen,

What am I missing here?

2020 M5 completion with 800 miles for $92,999?

https://www.carmax.com/car/18974187

Isn’t the sticker on even a base M5 competition $112,000 or so? This is a new car.

My concern is it’s at Carmax. Why isn’t it at a BMW dealership? The person bought it, drove it <1,000 miles and took like $25,000 bath on it? Makes no sense.

It was a “personal” use vehicle...not a lease or demo, I don’t think.

With 800 miles, seems almost no risk. Car max also has several guarantees.

Seems high to me since it's 2 years old. Would $75,000 be a silly offer? I get conflicting reports on demand for these...some say dealers are desperate to sell these cars.

I'm trading a 2010 335i in immaculate shape, with 50,000 miles. If I can get out the door for around $60,000 with my trade, I'll buy it.
I wouldn't pay more than 80k+ttl. Being in Texas it's priced high for sure.

Thanks. Any insight into what dealers actually pay for these?

I wouldn't know but M5, C63s, E63s are all hot cars and retail prices are still pretty high I think. My honest opinion look for something in Georgia there have been some good deals there.

Exactly; Classic BMW caters to an entirely different demographics it seems like. Where people really don't care about what they pay for their cars. I live 10 mins from them and I have never been able to remotely get to a fair price on any of their vehicles.

The used car sales guy finally gave up on me and broke up last week. Lashed out at me big time for never coming to the table with anything fair - oh well. We define "fair" very differently.

lol I made an offer on a 2020 they had, before I ordered my 2021. They seemed quite offended when I asked for some % off msrp and totally shut down.

you can get a better deal if you are willing to go non local. sometimes local dealer will match the deal. In Utah they did, but in Indy they wouldn't.

I paid $80k for my '18 with 13k miles. $75k offer isn't too far off.

That’s good info. When and where did you purchase? What options? Was it $80K + TTL or $80k driveout?

Sitting in Dallas TX, I called Greg Poland at Pacific BMW in Los Angeles. First time dealing with him and we closed the deal on my new car in 15 mins. I had my car in 7 days shipped to my home.

The Classic BMW sales guy offered me a 2019 base M5 (114K MSRP) for a monthly payment of 2100

It was $80k out the door. I believe it has most of the packages including the CF roof. It is not a Competition model and it does not have the CCB. This was purchased in Jersey on Jan of this year

Yea...Classic BMW? No no! Try BMW of Dallas or Arlington (Arlington has lower inventory than the rest tho). Grapevine is pricey too but a bit more flexible than Classic.

Classic BMW would be my last option. After trying to deal with them one time, I quickly realized they have a specific clientele base they cater to (those that buy at MSRP without questions).

Houston dealerships is also an option.

Only good BMW dealership is Texas is Principle Auto in San Antonio all others are thieves and have big time attitudes issues. Whether it be Dallas or Houston. Sewell and Park Place dealerships are normally great in customer service but I don't think they own BMW. United BMW Alpharetta GA is good on their price and try Oklahoma City as well.

I paid 79k for my 2018 with 15k miles about a month ago. Most of what I saw was more than that for mileage under 20k, clean title, 1 owner etc. I did go out of state to purchase. I have seen a few out there going for 79-80k the past month or so. 75k maybe a bit low, but maybe 77-79K?

The problem is hardly anyone has a 2018+ M5 in stock. I have no issues going out of state, unless the weather screwed up the car or something. I’d rather not do a North East car.
