F90 Roof trim removal

I'm posting this for those who may be doing PPF installs and are wrapping the roof, this was my reason for taking them off. Also, many installers don't always want to remove trim simply due to liability reasons.

In any case, its really simple to remove and all you need is a plastic pry-tool. I posted a pic of a pry keep i've been using for years which i got on Amazon for under $20

To remove trim, start from the back by lifting the corner, gently apply more pressure to lift it up to expose where the tabs are. Then use pry tool to push on the tabs which will release the roof trim. When you get to A-pillar just pull up and it will come off, no tools required.

Its nice to see that BMW retained roof rails feature for F90 with Carbon roof.

Enjoy

Only one of my clips came off without having to use the pry-tool, its still stuck with the roof trim.. they roof side part of the clip is just held with double side tape so I'll redo that one with some 3m primer and new 3m tape for the win.

Roof molding

Are they plastic, painted plastic or what? Need to replace one but the part says only painted not what material. seems like black plastic to me. Haven’t removed it yet.
