Hi all,

I have a 2021 M5 base and I would love to lower the car a bit, but keep the factory feel and if I could, keep the factory warranty. I also want to keep factory functionality.

Can I swap in competition springs to get the car slightly lower? Would it be worth it?

Is there a factory upgrade that I can get?

If not, is there an aftermarket option that keeps the same ride quality?

I went through the forums and am a bit confused with all the options. Thank you for the help!

I have the Eibach lowering kit. I went with the M5 specific. Some people do the M550 kit for a more aggressive drop. Mine feels similar to OEM but with a slight drop. I could not be happier.

You could install Competition Springs or the MP-HAS if looking to lower the car and avoid any warranty issues.

MP-HAS will allow you more options as it is adjustable so you can find a good compromise between ride height and ride quality.

I have the same setup. The stance, ride quality, and handling improvement is perfect

Here is my input…. All pictures lowered online generally immediately after spring install. Springs settle.

I lowered my base M5 with 550 H&R springs. If I could have done it over I would have went M5 H&R lowering springs.

550 springs lower car after they settled it is very aggressive drop in front. My issue with these springs is they are softer than base m5 springs and H&R m5 spring. Too much bounce on highway at high speeds if road is not perfect even in Sport Plus. I always drive my car now in sport plus for springs setting now with 550 springs.

I just wish there was more information about softer ride even in Sport Plus for supspension.

I bought the M5 H&R springs for the reasons expressed above. I think they are fine. Any lower and I would have trouble in the snow and scrape on more driveways. No bounce on the highway. I usually drive in default mode unless I need stiffer. On a mostly straight highway, you really don’t need stiffer.

I also added Dinan front monoballs, Dinan rear toe links, M5 Comp motor mounts, and Hardrace subframe bushing stiffener plates. A mod I would consider in the future are LCI Comp struts and, if they are ever produced, stiffer swaybars.

Swaybars, some type of camber adjustment, and rotors and I would be good to go. Do you think the springs help you at all or just cosmetic?

Definitely stiffer. I like them, but maybe LCI Comp struts and Comp springs would also be great. I don’t live in a big city, so most of my driving is secondary roads and highway. Roads are decent but far from perfect. We have frost heaves and mixed maintenance.

I have an LCI comp and looking for something stiffer. I see lot of offering but don’t know if it’s worth it for my model

Go with HAS springs! I went with HR F90 springs and was VERY unhappy with the rear drop, the front was perfect but the rear was way too high, a 2 finger gap.

I went with HAS and wish i did this since the beginning.

The comment above is about cosmetics, not function. People differ on cosmetics. I have the H&R M5 and think the front is a little low, like 1/2 inch. The rear is fine. But certainly with an HAS kit, you can adjust however you like.

Yeah I thought I would find a test by now for stiffness. Cosmetically I’m not to worried as others.

I’d put H&R M5 springs as the stiffest from what I have read.
