Has anyone had to change them out? The shop told me I need new calipers because of the dust boots.

Seems like massive overkill. I assume no individual caliper parts show up in real OEM. I’d measure the pistons and contact a Brembo parts supplier to see if they can help identify the boots you need. I rebuilt 6 piston StopTech a few years ago with new pistons and boots and found all the part numbers, but it is a much smaller company with many fewer applications.

How are the boots in need of replacement already? I always thought they were essentially lifetime parts. Certainly not on a 2 year old car. Were they damaged? Defective? If they are defective you should be able to get that fixed under warranty.

DIY. Lots of video and text DIY if you google. Or take the caliper to a machine shop and ask them if they will do it for you. If you need a shop to do everything, keep calling around — there has to be one that will take your money for a small job that requires cleanliness and care more than serious mechanical expertise.

Cracked and dry rotted. Said it's from extreme heat. I track the car so I know it gets hot.

That's what I would have thought too. I'm still calling around.

I wonder whether titanium shims would help? I think they are primarily used to reduced fluid temperature but maybe they would also prolong boot life. Nothing is harder on a car than tracking it. The track guys drive harder in one 20 minute session than the guys here who write about how hard they drive their cars on the street do in a week.

I might give the shims a shot. I know at my closest track the temps are crazy

The dust boots are very easy to replace. All you need to know is the piston sizes. Keep in mind not all 3 pistons are the same size. You can source caliper rebuild kits from all sorts of vendors.

Missed this. Yes this is absolute bullshit. Can't believe they're too lazy to buy the rebuild kit.

DIY my friend. If it's just the dust boots, It's simple and easy.

HOWEVER, if you don't spend a lot of time with the car in the rain...fagetaboutit.

Racing Brake made special silicone dust boots for the GT-R. And they STILL burn on the track. STILL. Wait until they're charred little pieces of dust, and THEN replace.

He tracks it. They are known to melt and burn under high heat. However, what the eff does "lifetime" mean? If you ain't rebuilding your calipers about every fifteen years, you ain't drivin' it.

As always. Available to help, at least for advice. Can help you source rotors and pads. Tires are burnt on the altar of performance. The most expensive part of tracking our cars. Frankly, any REAL performance car in 2023.

Miata's, sure. Cheap but slow. Find a great performance car in 2023 with less than a 235 mm width tire. Good luck.

Burnt them the hell up. But the GT-R was HORRIBLE for brakes. Taught me everything I know about pads and cooling.

Kit definitely includes six seals. Look at both links.

Full rebuild kits would include 12 per caliper. Not just the boots but the actual piston seals as well. Done that too. Don’t know if this kit includes them.
