When will we have availability in showrooms?
Still hot and sold out everywhere... when do you guys think we will start seeing some normal levels of availability?

Here where I am in Orange County, and dealerships up in LA and San Diego have just started getting inventory literally this past week. It's not much, and almost all of the cars are marked up.
I was planning to pick mine up tonight from Irvine BMW, but they sold it to someone else this morning. I had received an email from the GSM last night at 9pm giving his final offer on the value of my trade in, and then 9 minutes later I responded to his email that it was acceptable and asking to hold the car for me to come purchase tonight, but then when I contacted him this morning to confirm the car would be ready tonight, he said someone called in this morning and signed the papers. |

BMW of Murrieta gave me a pretty good quote. It’s just a bit of a kick to the groin that I woke up this morning thinking I’d have an M5 tonight and now I’m possibly 3+ months away... So now I’m also looking at the E63s. |

I don’t understand why you guys are even looking to purchase locally. You know the car.. just find one out of state. I purchased mine in New Mexico with no mark up and discounted window sticker.

While the F90 is undoubtedly a great car, there is enough profit in it as MSRP that any dealer up charging over MSRP is guilty of gouging and deserves to be boycotted in the future. OTOH, there IS a sucker born every minute, so if your impulsiveness knows no limit, go ahead and spend $10K over MSRP!

It's $10k on a $120k car.....there are plenty of people who might want the M5 NOW (instead of waiting a week for it to arrive from across the country). To them, paying a $10k premium might be a drop in the bucket and worth it to drive home in the car that day. Personally I would never do that....but it's not gouging. Gouging is charging $10 for a bottle of water during a hurricane. It's not anymore gouging than those of us who see people on the forum who got $10k off MSRP and then we turn around and demand the same from our local dealer who originally wanted MSRP (not talking about the F90 now....but wait until this winter). Better believe when I was shopping for my M6 a couple years ago and saw some on this forum who said they were given 20k off their M6's...I insisted on a $20k discount minimum from every dealer I contacted.

Just thought I'd throw it out there, I have a Marina Bay Blue/Silverstone M5 available at MSRP at my dealership in NJ if anyone is interested. There's also a $2000 loyalty credit and a Fleet discount if you qualify. PM me for pics/details

October
Seems last October, after reading the tech reviews and some early drives of the coming new M5, in the European magazines that I read regularly, I found myself at my dealer with the 550 getting some service, and who should be there, but my ‘M3 salesman’. So I asked him, innocently, “do you have any info on the new M5 yet?”. He says to me, “why are you interested, because if you are we are only getting three in our first allotment, the next might not come until the fall”, but, he says to me, “if you give me a $XXX -fully refundable – deposit you’ll get one of the first three, guaranteed.” Before I knew it, I don’t know how, he had my Amex! So for the next couple of months I would periodically go to the BMW website to see if the M5 was there, nada.
January 3 I stopped at the site and lo, and behold, there it was, the [new] M5 was there. I ‘built it’ and saved the pdf, and sent it to my dealer the next morning. He said he’d check, Friday morning I stopped in and formalized the order. Took delivery Saturday 4/14… |
