BMW Display Key

Has anyone with the New F90 M5 tried programing a new G30 Display Key to operate their US Spec F90 M5? If so, is it just coding or will you have to take to BMW Dealership?

Display key should work.
I don't think BMW will engineer a special locking system just because it is an M car.
Maybe it locks faster and louder??? Haha.

I ordered the display key with the F90. Will have it mid May. Is there theoretically any difference between those two keys of the G30 and F90?

I was told by my dealer, the display key was not made for US spec F90 M5. I know some have a display key for the G30 5 series. I was wondering if program properly would it work?

Because Digital Key (incorporated on the operators personal NFC compatible device and shareable with up to 5 additional users) is being released in June. This can be enabled on existing cars equipped with Exec Package (Wireless Charging is a pre-requisite).

M5 Display Key

My new M5 is about to be shipped to Baltimore. My dealer told me the display key isn't available in the US when I inquired.

For markets which get the display key, does it also come with a regular key? I don’t want to carry a hulking key in my skinny jeans.

It’s about time car makers copied Tesla and allowed the car to by operated by the owner’s phone.

I was told you get one display key, and one regular key.
Note that Remote Park is not available even with the display key, at least in Canada.

In Australia we got the display key as an inclusive option with 2 standard keys. Three keys in total.

I'm still not understanding why they get upgraded features like ceramic buttons, tri-color seatbelts, exhausts, etc etc etc... Why doesn't BMW settle on one spec and group of options for the entire world and just go with that?

You’ve nailed it. Each market has different competitive pressures too. It makes sense to spec differently for each market. Just about every manufacturer does this.
