Farewell Donington?

Looks like Donington Grey is no longer on the configurator. Didn't see that coming. Will it return for 2023?

Those of you who have Donington may now have a more rare vehicle.

What do you think of Dark Graphite?

You can still get an X5/6M in DG. And there were plenty of DG F9x cars. Great color, but definitely not all that rare, even on the M5. Dark Graphite is fine, but lacks the character of Donnington and it's many shades in different light.

Brands Hatch Grey, Motegi Red and Snapper Rocks Blue are gone as well. Is BMW trying to streamline manufacturing in light of current challenges by reducing the number of no cost color choices? Four colors gone and only one new one.

Probably, they're halting production completely next week because of shortages and supply chain disruption due to the war

Aren't some colors discontinued towards the end of the lifecycle anyways? When I was looking for an F80, it wasn't long after the CS came out, and was the final model year. Couldn't get Sakhir Orange or Silverstone exterior. If you can only order a 2023MY car right now, that could make sense.

Could be the war as well

can't believe that on an M car there's no silver available.

I always thought of DG as closer to silver than gray.

Agree, I can't recall their every not being a silver option. My first M5, a 2003 E39, was Sterling Grey. I'm convinced DG is that color resurrected, but nobody has been able to confirm.

Yes, I've always described DG as pewter, which falls somewhere between silver and grey.

I mean, how many different shades of gray do they need to offer…?

It was my first choice because it does not attract attention and does not show dirt. Could be a Camry.

This was my thought exactly. I wanted to blend in. But then I saw MBB and it barely won over DG.

So true, that's why I bought 2 F90 M5's both in Donnington.

Thing with Donington is just how off it is on the build tool... and how off it's been for years. I realize color inaccuracies are present with monitors and whatnot, but if you build something with Donington, it's just not even close to what it really looks like. When I finally saw Donington in person, I was like "that's it?"

This is true of most colors though. Whenever someone asks what this or that color looks like, I always recommend spending 30 minutes to an hour snooping around the dealer the next time their car is in for service. DG is particularly tough to nail down in photos though
