Just picked up the car less than 3 weeks ago, got rear ended on highway 880. The anti collision beam of the other car penetrated the entire rear bumper; the two cars were still sticking to each other while being moved. Does anyone have any advice on how to move forward?

there goes 8k because of the carfax..

sorry to see this.

left quarter doesn't appear to be buckled due to the center of the impact, hopefully the right side isn't buckled. new bumper, diffuser, rear section of exhaust, new re-bar, sensors, trunk w/hinches, paint the entire ass end to match, and shes back on the road. Im hoping the floorpan isn't bent.. but i think it is.. if you have any questions regarding repairs, shoot me a PM. more than happy to answer questions.

next time lease, too many morons not paying attention that end up costing us money in the long run.

Damn. Sorry that happened to you. Had a similar incident, although not as serious, happen to mine...guy at Lowes backed out without looking and got my drivers side door. No other damage, new door shell and it was fine but a huge PITA. One piece of advice, be sure and file a Diminished Value claim after your car is fixed, against the other guys insurance. Dealerships usually know of an expert you can hire to handle the whole thing for about $300. You will get paid usually at least the amount of the repair. Doesn't make it go away but you should get around 8-10K (I got $4K just for a door) walking around money at the end. Makes it maybe just a little less painful. The Carfax will ding you when you sell but as long as frame not involved you should be fine. Good luck.

That sucks. Find a really good body/paint shop.

$-0- in diminished value in California. Perhaps if you went all the way through trial you might receive something but with settlements through insurance companies it is highly unlikely - at least in California.

Best wishes for a successful resolution.
