Thanks in advance for your review.
I think you can do the straight mine just was not done properly which I guess caused droning and power loss.

My dealer denied me.....

I spoke to Alek with BMW Technical Group regarding fitment of part number 18-30-8-092-607. Unfortunately, at this time BMW would not recommend or install this mid pipe exhaust on your vehicle due to that it’s an option (S1MAA) installed in the factory before delivery of the vehicle. Alek did go on to say that the F90 M5 is still very new and that BMW hasn’t released all the retro fit accessories to the North American market yet.

Anyone else get denied by their dealer?

Mine offered to install it. I passed since it was something easy to do.

Easy is a relative term. I don't have the facilities nor the tools to put on an exhaust myself.

I would recommend ordering and having an Indy shop installing it in this case. I bet they will charge you significantly lower than what the dealer would charge anyway.

You are probably right. I pinged my dealer because I thought this would be a no-brainer, no warranty issue, easy to order and install process. They are coming back saying that while BMW will not void the warranty, they will deny covering any repair that comes about from installing this exhaust, simply because they have to cut...and are worried about fitment. I have had an aftermarket exhaust on every one of my BMWs, and never had the slightest issue. All done by indy shops as well.

Maybe I will just go Eisenmann exhaust plus mid-pipes and call it a day. Go big or go home is what I am thinking now.

Wait, so the msport ordered is only part of the full exhaust, meaning there is cutting/welding?

Ya...it is the mid-pipe, not the full exhaust.

I got my dealership to order and install....all good. Said there were only 3 left in the world right now....due to the competition builds. So hurry up if you are gonna order one.

Do you guys think it's possible to do a DIY project on this front muffler replacement or does it involve cutting the stock pipes and welding etc?
Thanks!

I put mine on in an hour, but you do have to measure and cut the factory piping.

Thank you! Do you have pictures of the pipe before the install? I haven't raised mine on a lift yet. Also, after doing that would it remain possible to retrofit the stock muffler back on?

That is a dealer that does not understand his own product. Sad.

Exactly same thing happened to me here in Valencia, CA. Not to mention two other dealers I called before that said this part number doesn't fit the F90. Ended up getting a dealer in Illinois who had it and will ship to me. ECS tuning has it too for $1280 shipped.

Something is not tight. Clamp, etc. easy fix. Sloppy install.

Here are stock exhaust resonator vs M Sport / Competition exhaust resonator photos.

Stock resonator:

M Sport / Competition exhaust resonator (showing less perforations than stock resonator):

DECIBELS

0 dB gain at idle
0 dB gain at 2000 rpm hold (basically, a high idle)
6dB gain with stationary throttle blips.

So to confirm I understand this thread correctly

There’s no difference to be gained from having the M sport then resonator delete as compared to regular F90 exhaust with resonator delete ! Or there’s something else to M Sport ? Like rear muffler air software ?

Thanks
