Respectfully, he didn't say anything petty, and the only one coming across as such is you. Tesla is having production problems. Period. It's well documented. They can't build as many as they said they could, and the ones they can build have horrible quality issues. Your blind defense of Elon Musk and Tesla in the face of factual evidence contrary to your statements make you sound like one of the innumerable paid Tesla trolls clogging up bandwidth on blogs everywhere.

What’s even more petty, is you feeling compelled to argue on another man’s behalf. No one asked you. Likewise, many of you on these forums are poor readers and seek to win arguments as opposed to being involved in a healthy discussion. Calling someone’s point of view ignorant, isn’t a personal attack. Being Ignorant is having the lack of information..hence my comment. How could i have any ounce of a blind defense for Tesla when...i don’t own a Tesla, and i own and drive a high horsepower, Petro-engine M3? Unlike you, i don’t allow what i drive to influence my opinion or ignore very accessible facts. Regarding your alleged poor quality claim. You can look on this very same forum and read comments about owners dissatisfied with BMWs instances of crappy quality so that point is moot. And it’s my fault to believe a community of BMW fanboys could actually put their allegiance aside and give Tesla props for disrupting a market that was all but stale before Elon took a risk. Bean counters limit production, not Tesla itself. It’s about the bottom line. Educate yourself.

Have you driven the F90?
No and I probably never will. It's not very appealing looks wise and too big.

Not sure how you claim this... I'll be the first to be critical of my F80 where due because its far from a perfect car and has lots of imperfections (like the beloved DCT that I actually think is sub-par) but tough to say its not a "driver's" car. Is it different from your E92? Sure.... but its definitely a drivers car.

BMW has their share of fanboys. In fact one could argue the brand is entirely made up of them. I know cause I used to be one. As well as a driver.

The thing is every 5 series has a resemblance to the one before and thus all connected. This means your 5 series bears a striking resemblance to a $5,000 used E60 and thus your $120k M5 is a $5,000 car.

That mistake cannot happen with a Tesla.

Again this is coming from a huge BMW fan. I'm sure the M5 is great but really it's hard to knock a car that's from the future. Gasoline cars by comparison are dinosaurs.

It's all relative. At half the weight, a new MX-5 is more of a driver's car than your F80 M3.

Lol, it's okay, we get it you are a Tesla fanboy. There are many here agree that it looks like a talon. You don't have to be one of them. No need to be offended it is just personal opinion.

Tesla really should hire you as their COO and CMO as they desperately need someone like you to increase their production capacity and increase sale volume to become profitable in a niche market that they have already maximized. (does this even make sense?)

Stop wasting your time here and apply. LMFAO!!!!

I should really stop wasting my time to reply to ignorant ppl here too. See ya!

Again I just have my opinion and you have yours. I won't buy a car without a HUD. It's a dealbreaker for me and my wife both. I have an iPhone X and a Google Pixel 2. Only time I ever use those for navigation is for Waze as a 2nd navigation tool (for traffic, police, etc).

But this side conversation is off topic. So back to the original. M5 blows away the Tesla!
The F80 has turn-by-turn as well. Lol the irony of this discussion is, BMW is slowly but surely going TeslaÂ’s route using all electric anyway.
Yeah, most cars are going this way. I think majors are just trying to transition people slowly.

Tesla just got there quick. I like the gas engines still but can definitely see the future will be quiet electric engines

Fit and finish of the tesla leaves a lot to be desired. the seats are not bolstered correctly, the info screen is too complicated (just to put your heated seats on you need to hit different menus), and it appears to wear really poorly, there are dents and dings and scratches all over my mothers Model S interior.

M5 is a far superior car in every category besides fuel economy. But who the heck would buy the M5 for fuel economy anyway?

Well... BMW had 33 years to make that happen. Everyone on this site cannot be this obtuse. Even the McLaren, for example, that would destroy every car in the M Lineup has major QC isssues.

I don't think the Tesla looks remotely like a DSM in that there are no shared design queues.

The company will probably report a loss in the range of $1 billion dollars and delivered less than 20k cars last year but has a market cap bigger than GM, but hey, stock is doing well.

Please, let’s not get on a tangent about automotive bailouts or car manufacturers hemorraging money before getting saved, Jim Cramer.

Interesting deduction; i won't comment on its validity though.

Has the P100D managed a lap of the Nurburgring yet? (I mean that as a genuine question)

99.9% of the people on this board could care less about a Tesla. It is a soulless vehicle that makes no sound and drives like my kid’s razor scooter. The M5 and the Tesla are two totally different vehicles. 🍎 to 🍊.

Of course it has, just can't do it with full power through the entire lap.

As a P100D owner I also visit Tesla forums and over there there is a thread almost 100 pages long on how Tesla maybe should revise how they advertise their HP.

P100D makes close to 700HP at peak but the problem is, it can't do it for long, and also it depends on SOC (as in battery's state of charge). if battery has say, 20% left, you won't get anywhere near 700HP.

Imagine if the M5 has half a tank left, the engine will now reduce output to 400HP?

I think Tesla have now taken HP figures off their website.

Like I said before, I love my P100D but it still has a lot of limitations.
