I do it all the time. Left side will always be CarPlay. Right side can be many things but I choose either BMW map or media. The media view shows the current track that is playing and usually with a picture. If it is CarPlay it will also show a bar with the song progress.

CarPlay allows for music browsing by Composer. BMW media does not.

Waze does not display in HUD on my 2020.

Do you hold the microphone button down? If so, that activates Siri. If you only tap it, it activates the iDrive system. Perhaps you may be using the carplay but for when you ask it directions and use the microphone, it pulls up the HUD because you're requesting through iDrive.

I say this because my '20 doesn't have carplay show up in HUD unless i've been doing something wrong this whole time hahaa
