M Performance Pro Spoiler and dealer question?

So my new F90 is being fitted with the M Performance body kit including the Rear Spoiler Pro.

My dealer has come back to me and asked me if I want the spoiler put over the top of the factory one?

To be honest I've been thrown by the question, I have no idea!

He's saying if they remove the factory one, it may damage the paint? But surely this is standard practice?

Has anyone who has gotten the rear spoiler any advice? What did you do?

They aren’t meant to sit in the same spot. Just had mine installed earlier this week. There was a little damage to paint but 99% of it buffed out. Well worth it. M pro mounts on the angled portion of the trunk and factory is more on the top. Makes a huge difference

Thanks for that confirmation, I'll tell dealer!

If they remove the old spoiler with the correct grade fishing wire, there will be no paint damage at all. The pro spoiler wont fit over the standard item. Ask them if they have fitted one before, and to use betalink adhesive too.

If the dealer thinks the new spoiler can go over the existing one, I would be cautious of them installing it at this point.

So dealer has agreed with your advice and he found a technician who used the fishing wire, exactly like you said! Great work! Thanks

They probably meant to put it on without removing the other one which is dumb. Definitely remove. Had a small amount of clear damage on the corner but that was my fault. Got a bit aggressive when getting the old betalink off. Detailer fixed it when her applied ceramic

Thanks, I get it on the 6th (away next week) and it's going straight into detailer to get coated so hopefully any issues will be sorted there and then!

I know the MP spoiler fits on the edge of trunk, but will it really fit in there without removing the stock one? Because I removed the stock one myself and am waiting for the MP spoiler to be installed, if they really fit without touching each other, I guess I would've saved the trouble removing the stock one.

How much did dealer charge for labor for removal and new install?

So strange that he'd say that. I bought the M Performance Carbon spoiler for my LCI. There's no way it could go on top of the stock spoiler; totally different locations.
