I too was willing to lease my 2020 and M5 Competition. However after negotiating my discount from MSRP (just under 8% off), the lease rate was just crazy for a 12/10k mi./3 year lease (almost $1900 on a car with a sale price of $122,000 (including California sales tax). So I just purchased the car to give retain flexibility in the event that I want to switch to different vehicle later.

So far at 900 miles this is really an awesome car and is greatly improved in all of the areas where I was disappointed with my F10 550i M Sport with dinan (yes, I know this is not an apples to apples comparison). My F10 was a wallowing pig, and this car feels more like an F-22 Raptor/beastly instrument in comparison.

Back on topic, the lease deal was just not there on my 2020, and I could not find any good deals on a 2019 M5 Competition in a spec that I liked, so it looks like I was not alone in this regard.

Yeah, but let's be honest, your type of deal is still extremely hard to come by. A freaking unicorn!

Honestly, it’s all about taking your time to do the research, making the phone calls, and finally negotiating. It wasn’t that difficult. If the dealer says no, move onto the next and keep trying, you’ll eventually hit one. Took me 3 or 4 phone calls to nail the unicorn.

Just curious, you posted that you leased your M5 ,which was your dream car, off the dealers lot on 12/10/2019, but you then posted that you still haven’t received your car on 1/07/2020. Something doesn’t make any sense . You’ve leased a car off the dealers lot over 28 days ago, but you still don’t have it ?

Sounds like an apples to oranges to me. Your deal is excellent--no doubt--but have you really seen folks paying $2200 for a '19 base with an MSRP of $110K? I haven't seen that personally. I've seen folks paying $1900 (so that's pretty close) but that's for the very first '19 M5 Comps with MSRPs starting around the $130Ks. Patience definitely rewards, though.

What are your lease terms by the way; mileage, etc.?

Wait a minute guys.

He posted on 12/10/2019 that he made a deal with the dealer for a 2019 M5 that was on the lot, and had a deal that none of us have ever heard of before.

On 12/12/2019, he stated that the dealership overnighted via FedEx the paperwork on the leased car off the lot and that the dealership was shipping the car out as we speak that same day he got the paperwork. Impossible and illegal by the dealership . He would have had to overnight the lease paperwork back to the dealership for them to check for his signatures before they would ever release the car.

Then on 1/07/2020, he stated that he was getting his car soon (“ he can’t fathom paying 2,200 a month for the same car that he was receiving soon”) , 28 days later after leasing it and 26 days after he said the car was being shipped by the dealer as we speak.

Lol. Knew his deal was way to good to be true .

Well, we're apparently drawing similar conclusions but you're going a tad more for the jugular than I did. There's some evidence as to it being true hence my questions... same vein as your very possibly accurate observations so I guess we'll see

Not real bright, are you two?

He clearly stated his car was part of the tranny sensor recall and there is a stop sale on these cars.

The other confusing thing is the Stop Sale was issued on December 6, 2019. How can the car even be sold on December 12?
Isn’t it illegal that a dealership can sell a car with an open campaign and a stop sale?
If they did accidentally sell the car, the contract wouldn’t be legally binding since there was a stop sale.

Your not wrong for once in this instance, in the other your completely incorrect, I have leased the car, my plates have been processed by my DMV and were shipped to the dealer and is on the car as we speak. I spoke to the GM of the dealership and told them this yesterday, they actually agreed, they didn’t want to lose the sale (it slipped through the cracks they said). Meanwhile I pointed out to them the big bold red letters in the contract where it says STOP SALE. They apologized and said they will cover all my payments, plus my insurance payments as long as it’s sitting at the dealer waiting for the recall fix. Plus, they will pay an extra month on top of that. I’ll negotiate more for the inconvenience as well when the time comes. But my wife’s new X5 is in, picking it up tomorrow, so we can manage with one car for the time being (I work from home).
