Base F90 - Square Setup for Winter Tires

Hey everyone,

Thanks again to everyone who has been responsive so far on other threads. I recently found a set of new winter tires running 275/40/R19s with an appropriate service description (105W). I can't seem to find an answer to this in other threads, but can you please let me know if these will work on the 705M wheels I have? (either from experience or if you know of other threads that have talked about this).

Current setup:
Fronts: 275/40/R19
Rears: 285/40/R19

Only worried about the rears obviously. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure about what may work. It's a question for maybe tire rack. I just popped on my new winter set from BMW. Not cheap but staggered and fully set up by bmw.

I reached out to tire rack and they couldn't "confirm" that the 275/40/19 rears would work. It sounded like they were hedging against any liabilities.

I've seen people in the forum run square winter setups but haven't came across a review yet.

So I changed the wheels this morning and the car actually asked me to input the tire size so it does seem really important.

Others have run square on staggered wheels. 275 is within the acceptable range for 10.5 wheels. Handling characteristics will be altered but snow tires alone dramatically alter it. It would not be my first choice - I buy snow wheels whether square or staggered and mount square tires on square wheels and staggered tires on staggered wheels, but no harm is likely to occur and most likely you would not even notice the difference between having 9.5s in the rear instead of 10.5s.

I run a square setup. 275/35/R20. Handling has been pretty good in snow, but pretty terrible on icy roads.

Does the square vs. non square winter setup contribute to the driving feeling crappy on icy road?
Also, any idea if a square setup would void the warranty?
