m5 ceramic brakes noise

Hi all, new to the group. I bought a 18 m5 with carbon brakes a while back. The brakes stop like anchors. only issue is the noise they make at lower speeds. its like a grinding type of sound. sounds like its coming from all 4 corners too. if it was a normal car i would say pads need replacing. But they have loads of meat left on them. No shakes or anything else. When you stop near someone its embarrassing. I asked a guy that owns a supercar place and he said its normal. But I had a friend drive it whos had loads of supercars with ceramics and he said its not right. I've read about squeaking sounds but this is defo not a squeak. Love the car but dont know if i can live with this. It does have extended warranty so going to see if i can it into BMW. but when i spoke to them they said brakes wouldn't be covered under warranty. Can't belive £10000 brakes and they are suppodesly for life. car has never been tracked.

What is the mileage on your car ?

I have the CCB's on my M5 and they are 100% quiet.

No squeaking like steel brakes and no grinding whatsoever.

Mine has 24,500 miles.

You should have your car checked by the dealer...

Had this issue on my M5 back in the day with ccb and I'd "fix" it by getting on the freeway up to 90+mph and then stomping on the brakes real hard back down to 40mph. Rinse and repeat 3 or 4 times and it would get rid of the squeak squeak for a few weeks. Worked every single time for me.

I stomped hard tho like emergency stop style. If you do try this please please be safe.

This is an issue that has been discussed many times. Before I decided to purchase the M5 this was a concern. When I went on a test drive I asked the sales person about the brakes. He told me don't get the CCB because they squeal. When we were driving the car out of the show room, the brakes squealed very loud. He then drove the car like a maniac. Fast acceleration and braking as we speed through a business park. I guess he was getting the brakes warmed up or bedded since we asked the question and then we all heard the loud squeal. Then we I took over the car and drove on typical suburban roads no squealing was noticed. Some people on these forums say CCB do not squeal while others say they do squeal. Same thing for the steel brakes. The fact is some cars seem to have the issue and some do not. BMW even put out a video indicating the CCB brakes will make noise. I guess they were tired of the complaints and money spent trying to resolve the issue to no avail. Anyways I heard of people with squealing steel brakes getting aftermarket pads and resolving the issue. But not sure if there is an option for CCB brakes.

Only squeals I'll get from my CCBs are as I'm leaving a car wash or during a torrential downpour. Other than that, they've been consistently quiet.

I forgot to mention, I'm also experiencing squeaking just after a wash.

The noise disappears after braking 2-3 times.

I know the sounds you are describing. rain, cold, etc. I think you won't hear the non - usual sounds when it warms up.

Do a hard bedding-in procedure by getting on a back road, panic braking from 50 to 0 repeatedly at least 10 times, and then see what happens.

If that doesn't fix it, you need to have the dealer pull the rotors and make sure there's not a focal delamination defect somewhere in the rotor braking surface. Let us know how it goes.

I've had my M5 with CCB since May 2018 (about 25k miles), and aside from squeaking fixed by the above braking procedure, I've had no issues with grinding.
