Hi all, well i did my smog test on my car and failed the first time.I was able to pass the second time by getting the cats super hot.I know i passed but wanted some ideas as to why i failed for high HC ppm and barely passed the 2nd time.My car has 82k.Thanx

Looking at the numbers, your " cat " is giving out or in some cases your O2 is letting the mixture to get " on the rich side " aging will do this to the emission control on the vehicle. I wonder if the car was warmed up before the test ? Or not... I always get on the highway before the test and then don't turn it off till the actual test...

Yeah the 2nd test was after about 20 min of highway pulls.
