1. From the quoted posts above it sounds like these are a direct swap for the OEM component with no cutting necessary. Just undo the clamp at each end and replace, then repeat on the other side. Correct? 2. Can this be done with the rest of the exhaust system in place? Or do you need to drop the exhaust to have enough clearance to make the swap? Thanks in advance!

Question 1. Correct Question 2. My mechanic said he did have to drop the exhaust to get the mid pipe out. I confirmed both questions for you with him as I'm not super technical with this stuff. Hope that helps! |

Very helpful, thank you! I was almost starting to think I'd try it myself in the garage, but you're answer to #2 has changed those thoughts back to Plan A - have the installer do it.

But, anyway, yes, you can install without bringing down the exhaust system, you just need to pull it back as much as possible so you have enough room to take out the stock and put the catless one back on. Here is the video of Evolution Racewerks on F93 M8.

We have them listed on our site a little differently. Think they are just changing the keywords up from prying eyes.
Either way Thanks for all the positive Comments guys . Glad you are loving your secondary Pipes. https://mad-us.com/mad-bmw-f90-m5-downpipes-s63r/

Very interesting.
I'm keen if anyone can help me with a couple of questions : 1. Does it affect warranty? 2. I have an Akra exhaust, not the full one, the slip on - any possible issues? 3. I am fitting a Jb4 (yes, taking small risk re warranty), any possible issues? If any experts can help, I would be grateful. I'm keen to improve sound, especially pops!!! 😊 |

I installed catless downpipes myself with a youtube video. Didnt do MAD as i didnt know about them until now but i wish i did. Anyways took me 9 hours lol. No lift. One floor jack. No special tools. Took so long because i kept taking breaks as i was getting my ass kicked in the dead florida humid ass weather. Alot of tight spaces and was tearing up my hands but got it done. Its doable in your garage.

Just installed my MAD secondary pipes today in my body shop. Took my tech about 3 hours to complete. Not a terrible install by any means. Just couldn't imagine trying to do it on a garage floor. Alot of awkward angles to twist you hand. The fitment is spot on and well made. It is only a mild increase in noise. Ended up disconnecting the exhaust valves also in the open position. 10/10 as far as a cheap efficient upgrade. Just don't expect life changing noise increase.

Good morning all. I bought a set of the MAD secondary pipes and ran into an issue yesterday when trying to have them installed. I'm working with both MAD and the distributor to remedy, but both are out of stock on the items right know. I'm hoping members may be willing to take 5 or 10 minutes and help me out trying to resolve the installation issue. Please PM me if either you have a set of these that are not yet installed, or have the OEM pipes handy that you removed to install these. Just looking for a couple measurements. Thanks in advance!

Replied. I think you're talking about the inside of the flange, which I've measured below to be around 73mm (don't have caliper on me but I measured inside to inside pictured).

Both flange photos look to be just a little over 7 cm.
