Thank you ! When you get a chance if you don’t mind can u post a pic of the hook tube you used ? I need to get one like yours. A shop Is telling me 300 to do transfer case but screw that I have quick jacks the transfer case is exposed it’s easy if I get the right hook tube to get in there.. thank you for your help!

I used this and bent the tubing to the shape I needed. Worked great.

If you don’t remove the support, its going to be tough to bend it with the limited space. I bought very thin tubing to see if it works better.

I plan on it probably in the fall. I'm not a believer of the LIFETIME transmission fluid BS. LOL. I helped a friend do his 335 last summer, pretty similar I am sure.

After doing it once on my car and then helping a friend rebuild his transfer case, I am pretty sure you can get at that without removing the support, but really it's not that big of a deal to remove the support.

Did you have anything supporting the trans when you removed the support per the BMW manual? Not sure if anything will fall on me once I remove the support

As an fyi, I changed the rear myself and it required 2 liters

Then you overfilled it by an entire liter. The instructions specifically say that if you fill to the edge of the fill plug, the rear differential will be overfilled.

Maybe you bought 500ml bottles and it took 2?

Nope. 2 liters came out of the rear axle; and I put 2 liters in. I personally drained it and personally put in the 2 liters.

Most likely if you put back what you took out, tge jevel hs fine—unless someone else overfilled it previously. I did not put a camera in there to see what the level is before the fill port. I tend to think it would not hold an extra liter but have not verified that.

You might want to check the volume on those bottles. If you actually got 2 liters out of the rear diff, it was overfilled. You can always call your dealership parts department and ask for rear diff fluid capacity to confirm.

To confirm 2018-2020 has a different diff than 2020 onwards, though replacement diff fits 2018-2023 cars. They fazed out the old one so if u ever replace it just keep in mind different fill amount😅

Are you saying that the new diff takes twice the volume of fluid than the old one?
