Woooo! I'm finally listed as "in transit". I need to confirm, but my best guess is that my car is on "Porgy" based on the W&W schedule.

Congratulations! I think you're correct on the vessel. My car arrived at the port on the 22nd, so I've checked all the shipping websites and the only ships leaving Bremerhaven and making NY are WW ships, Porgy left on the 23rd, and the next two boats leave the 30th. I'm hoping to be on one of those.

Is genius no longer able to tell you which vessel your car is on? They told me when mine shipped a few months ago.

Seems that in Dec there was a change. They likely can tell you once you're on the ship, just not before you are on it.

Yeah, I thought I remembered reading something to that effect, thanks.

My '22M5C entered the order bank in August and it arrived at the port in CA on 12/26/21. My car is also subject to the stop sale because of the radio module debacle. I ordered the HK. Does anybody know exactly what the RAM controls?

It controls... everything. It's your sat radio, your audio controls, your amplifier and some other stuff here ya go!

3.3.2. Receiver Audio Module (RAM)
The Receiver Audio Module (RAM) is a control unit and part of the infotainment system. The Receiver Audio Module (RAM) is an audio amplifier with integrated tuners and an integrated sound processor. The Receiver Audio Module (RAM) also contains Active Sound Design (ASD), and therefore an additional control unit is not required

The Receiver Audio Module (RAM) comes in a variety of versions and power levels.
Versions and power levels:
• RAM BASIC
• RAM MID
• RAM HIGH
Depending on the number and power of the speakers, a booster, to which the audio data are streamed via an Ethernet connection, is additionally installed.

My vehicle has been sitting at “awaiting carrier assignment” since 12/17 (182 Status - Handed over to carrier / load assignment) finished production on 12/17! No open issues with the radio module …. yet. I have the standard HK audio system.

Thanks. I could live without the RAM for a while. It's too bad we can't take delivery, drive it, and have the dealer install it when available. I get why they won't, but still.....

That's really strange. I'm not an expert on what each step means, but the next step is "Dispatched from factory". So that implies your car has been sitting at the factory for some reason. The cars go from the factory to the port by train, and that only takes about a day. My car finished production on 1/19 and arrived at the port on 1/22. If you haven't already, I'd have your dealership contact their area rep at BMW NA to see if you can get an answer as to what's going on.

This is frustrating to me, I’ve already spoken with the GM of the dealer (which is a center of excellence , should I mention) and he said “ Simply waiting to come this way, no other information available.“ & “ There is no other information at this point, we wouldn’t hold information back if we had it.” I personally think he gave me a half assed answer, I’ve asked him twice now and the level of customer service I’m getting is kind of disappointing. I’ve spoken to BMW NA also, and they tell me nothing (to no surprise). I had them open a investigation & they said it’s just waiting for a ship. Now sitting at awaiting carrier assignment & not even at port is very “concerning”. But what I take is that my car is just waiting for a ship & it hasn’t been scanned or updated since then , since I went through a holiday. I hope….

If your car goes in transit before me I’ll be on a warpath to my dealer😂

His answers sounds like they just logged into their system, which doesn't provide much more detail than My Garage - definitely half-ass customer service.

When you say you spoke to NA, was that through the customer service line? If so, I don't think they have access to anything the dealer can't see. But the area rep should be able to contact the factory and find out what's going on. When the whole B&W shortage issue popped up in August, my CA spoke to the area area rep who called the factory and was able to confirm my car would still be built with the B&W option. Also, the comment about just waiting for a ship is BS - a boat left on 1/23 that stops at New York (which is where I'm assuming a car going to Detroit would pass through, not sure if you know if it would go through a different VPC). It also doesn't explain why (if the website is accurate) your car has been sitting at the factory for over a month and hasn't taken the train ride to the port.

I’m definitely going to give it till the end of this week, if I don’t see any movement. I’m getting to start pushing harder. I mean quiet honestly what’s to say we’re not going to hit the RAM issue either. This whole process is disappointing in the lack of information/ transparency. My car is being sold to BMW of Toledo & I’m located in Michigan. So it will be taking a trip to port of Baltimore.

What’s even more crazy is when I placed my order (November 2021) is that I could not get B&W. I’m assuming they freed up the supply chain issues since then.

No, it's still not available for new orders. I placed my order in July, and it was accepted and I was assigned a production number before the B&W issue came up. I just had to wait until January to get the car built with the B&W.

I just talked to my dealer, had to call them off a different number lol. I asked my CA to reach out to their area rep he said he would. Surprisingly he was being helpful, I told him I got a basic generic answer from the GM and am not happy with the current level of service im receiving from the dealer. He said “I don’t blame you, you’re excited and happy to get the car, I would be too, I’ll get this sorted out”

Awesome! I hope this gets you some concrete answers about what's happening with your car.
