For the kids..

To all the F90 M5 Dad's out there..

If you still use a car seat for the little one(s) what seat do you guys use? My first is almost 1 years old and it is time for have him facing front way. I wanted to find a proper Recaro carseat, but my wife was not impressed with their overall safety ratings.

In a perfect world, it would somehow match my grey exterior or tartufo interior (I said IN A PERFECT WORLD) lol

Any and all info would be great, and some pictures too!

I have four kids, oldest is six and in a booster... after trying many brands, I find that Nuna is far and away the best product I've encountered. Their full car seat is built like a tank and installs very secure, their booster product is extremely easy to install/remove and works great in the M5's rear seat.

I think I am the only one on the planet who would have loved a two-seat car seat so that when you need TWO car seats you don't take up all the extra space in the car. We used to sit three kids (two in car seats, one not) and it was TIGHT. I'd love to see someone make a Tandem Side By side kind of seat that held two kids comfortable but had overall narrower footprint.

We used Graco brand if I recall. Funny no matter what brand you choice sometime along the way you hear about some recall. D'oh.

6yo - Diono Radian 3RXT (will be in a booster soon)
3yo - rear facing Chicco NextFit (will inherit the Diono soon when front facing)

Love them both, and have excellent safety ratings. The Diono is narrow too, which saves space

After much research I went with the Graco Slimfit to replace an UppaBaby Mesa after he grew out of it. I’ve no complaints, it’s sturdy and easy to get him in and out of.
Full disclosure.. This is my first experience of being a dad... I’m currently still in the M3 until next week..

I wanted a seat that would allow 2 adults to sit in the back with a child seat. It’s tight in the M3, hence the move to the M5!

Nuna - no need to look more. Went from their pipa model leaving hospital for first time to rava and currently there is an aace in the back seat (and another in my wife's X5 - we always had pairs of the same) which will become just a booster seat in the future. Our son is 4.

Quality is unsurpassed in comparison to pretty much anything else on the market. From materials to ease of use and how everything feels safety wise.

Perfect- just enough room to ensure neither Grandmother can ride in my car. Sold!

Definitely NUNA

Definitely NUNA is our choice - we have twin 4 year olds and have used NUNA ever since they were born...couldn't say enough positive things about it especially the fit, adjustability, durability, etc.

I have 3 kids and used Recaro front facing then Peg Perego.

With that said, 1 year old is too soon to go front facing. Don't rush it.... I know you didn't ask but felt compelled to say something. Do some research on this topic.

I have a 10mth old son, he's in an Osann Neo 360, that sits on a Jane seat protector. He's still rear facing at mo. The 360 spin is good when they get a little bigger, especially when my wife has to put him in it...she doesn't drive the M5 tho :P

Clek is the best imho. Amazing safety, well built and slimmest of all seats. I have 3 kids and with 2 cleks my oldest can still sit in the middle seat.

Not sure why the US spec car seats are so bulky. 10 years ago when my oldest was 2, I had an E Class and splurged on the Mercedes Car Seat which really was the Britax Duo Plus (European Model that was licensed for the US by Mercedes). It was narrower and a bit more compact which made the rear seats useable for 2 other adults seating in back if needed. I tried many different brands thereafter from Recaro, Britax US and even Clek all were very big and bulky. My youngest is now 6 and he's big and heavy enough to be on a booster so not sure what's out there these days. I think Porsche still provides the Britax Duo Plus version but it's $$$$.

Truth be told, my son (10 months old) is mostly at home, or with my wife. So I have the seat and the seat cover in the garage ready to clip in. But for the times i've used it thus far- super easy to clip and unclip, keeps the seats unmarked, and most importantly- safe for your little passenger.
