Am I the only one who thinks that these prices are outrageous? I have never made less than 6 figures (USD) since I graduated from school, but these prices are insane. Maybe $100k on a car may not be a lot of money in different parts of the US or the world, but it's a lot of money here in Tennessee.

Those color choices are appalling for a 100k+ car! Don't get me wrong, I like blue, but c'mon BMW! Blatant cash grab so people will have to pay for individual colors.

Wow! Canadians are paying the equivalent of $89K USD and for the same car we are paying $102K USD.

Since my wife is Canadian I might as well get one from Canada. That's the same price as a tricked out M4 in the States.

The previous gen M5 wasn’t much cheaper and the M6 was much more. While the price went up, fully optioned it’s nearly square with the current gen. There’s plenty of less expensive cars out there, the M5 is not one of them. Never has been.

It’s getting tough to swallow though with the M550 being so damn good.

A spec'd m3/4 can be over 100k now too. I'm sure the next generation m3/4 will start closer to 85 and be optioned over 110. Porsche proved the market is there and everyone else is following suit.

Any info on the 0-100 (160kph) or 0-124 mph times? (Not that it's particularly important but it does I think even-out the obvious AWD advantage when quoting 0-62 times comparing performance)

Unsprung weight is almost unnoticeable on these vessels.

Horsepower has little (actually nothing) to do with stopping power. The amount of force required to stop a 4300lb car from 200kph to 0 is the same no matter what the engine puts out.

Anyway there's plenty of threads on Bimmerpost on CCB's vs steels, and lots of industry info as well (not manufacturer info) so I won't go down that path. I'd highly suggest anyone looking to get CCB's understand what they're getting into. There is a lot of misleading information on their performance and longevity.

Definitely couldn't pay me to put them on my car.
Completely agree. I would much rather have a beefy iron disc BBK, something like an AP Racing Radi-CAL BBK then CCBs.

That being said, I'm completely disappointed by BMW's current iron brakes even in the new M4. They fade pretty much immediately if you are quick at Laguna Seca, the worst braking track I've been to by far.

I did get a chance to see BMW testing the new M5 in camo form at Buttonwillow Raceway back in August. They were doing hot lap after hot lap all day on the CCBs and couldn't get them fade. Didn't get a chance to tell them they should have tested at Laguna Seca instead, lol.

Sure it would, why wouldn’t it? What mods make an M5 hard to stop without CCBs considering you can’t get CCBs up to proper operating temp on the street and steels have better initial cold bite?
Maybe it's just me, but I find the CCBs on my F80 bite too hard during stop and go traffic. I also have zero dust and near zero noise. I'd take the CCBs over steel all day for daily duty.

Man, BMW Canada has lost their friggen' minds with regards to pricing! Everything is just rocketing sky high. M5 used to be $100K base back when they had the more expensive V10 in it. Since then they've moved to engines that are less expensive and modular architecture (which is supposed to have saved 25% versus the old way) and yet the price moves higher like crazy.

116k Canadian is only 90k US, which seems to put it in the right spot for an M5, right?

MSRP for the 2009 M5 with a manual transmission was $106,900. After inflation, that is $122,104.80

Heh heh. Yeah at Mosport here I can get the M5 irons to fade and Mosport isn’t a track with a lot of braking. But in the end if you track your car a brake upgrade is inevitable. I put a BBK on my E46 M3 and I can slap my eyeballs off the windshield lap after lap.

I’ll bet what BMW didn’t show at Buttonwillow was the 3 pad swaps and a rotor replacement at the end of the day They definitely don’t fade but they wear like a mofo under heavy track duty.

Damn, what a bargain. Lease payment is like 3000 a month. Gotta make at least half a million a year to afford this baby.

Thanks, glad I wasn't the only one who felt the same way. Expensive is of course all relevant (if you have unending amounts of money who cares really) but man, on my dollar this had better be a mind blowingly amazing car. I'd want sexual favours from it too (expect nothing less when I spend this much money).

I assume it's 5x112, as it has been on new models for the last couple of years.
