Dang man, lucky!!! I was going to buy, but now think I'll just lease and get the 2025 hybrid M5 when it's available. Hopefully by then this chip shortage nonsense will be behind us.

This thread is helpful. Ordered my M5C on April 1, 2021 with the Dallas dealer then known as Classic BMW. Been waiting ever since on an allocation - confirmed that I am #1 on the list since last Aug 21, when Sewell bought the dealership. Got a call end of Feb from the dealer wanting to confirm my build (Donnington, full black Merino, CCB, B&W sound, etc) as they were informed they were getting an allocation. 1 week later, informed the production had been paused due to BMW’s wiring harnesses sourced from Ukraine. So 1 year after my order, still waiting. Looks like I should be speaking with other dealers.

Should've done that when they said you're on a wait list lol

I'm sorry to hear that dude.. That's messed up that you had to wait a year for an allocation. I was in the same situation I spent the better part of second half of last year calling dealers for an allocation. 9/10 would say they do when in reality they didn't. When I was looking for a 540 lease on leasehackr I met a broker who helped me get an allocation on the M5 1st of February. I think if you have a broker go through him. Since they do volume, dealers are more accommodating with their requests/inquiries I feel like. I am in no way/shape/form affiliated with the guy and he is located in CA so I don't even know if he does TX but if you need/want his contact info PM and I can send it to you.

People on this forum are extremely helpful, I had a bunch of people reach out and help me out when I was looking for an allocation so I highly recommend that you make a tread for it and I'm sure someone will see it and try to help out. Hope it works out sooner than later

I'm sure people have asked this 1000s of times before on this forum but I couldn't find it so wanted to ask you micvite since you are more familiar with the process more than the "genius"s lol.

I called the 800 about 3 weeks ago they told me I was build week 20 and the guy told me that build week 20 means completion of the build not beginning.

Today I called again to see if there were any disruptions with M5 production since I heard from someone that they halted M340s. And the genius today told me that currently he doesn't see delays and that it will go into production in week 20.

So week 20 means beginning of production or completion? If it is the beginning then when would the completion be?

If its build week 20 as listed on the spec sheet it's going to be done week 20. Now he could've just meant it's going to actually start production week 20 (which would mean it ends week 20 as well since they blast through all the stages in like 3-5 days lol) now if he means the "production begins" stage is set for week 20 that would mean you're looking at week 21-23 for completion. Basically from when it goes to the next step from production begins you're looking at like 3-4 days before it says quality check lol

I see, I love how the wording is like an LSAT question lol.. On the spec sheet it was week 9 back in first week of February, but then I asked for a "funky" color lol and because of that they pushed it to week 20. So I guess it is build week 20.

It still shows me 111 so I asked the guy when will this be 112 like in mid April?(since its like 4 weeks from week 20) and he started acting as if I asked for a government classified info lol. He was like, "aaah, I can't tell you that. I'm not allowed to tell you that. But I can tell you that your status is order received but I can't tell you when it will be scheduled" No shit sherlock😂 his attitude made me chuckle over the line lol. I was like "oooookay".

I think I won't call them again lol, they just keep confusing me random responses..

So even if it is a random individual color, it still blasts through production in 3-4 days? Appreciate for taking your time to try to decode this and help out micvite 🙌🏻

Yup I had an individual color (technically) and yeah it'll blast through everything in a few days. It'll go to production begins about 2-4 weeks out from when it says whatever the next step is (I'm too lazy to check lol)

Wow man, that's freaking brutal. My dealer, BMW of South Austin, told me they get 1-2 M5 allocations every month. It's a Hendricks dealership, which probably helps in comparison to a Sewell.

Hope you're able to find a better dealer and get your car a lot sooner!

Individual color will go through as quickly as any other color. With that said, they're done in batches and, as such, may experience some additional delays.

Things are changing every day, so take it for what it's worth.
