For most cars, without a tire, RWD is always going to be at a disadvantage to AWD with similar power to weight. But with a tire, it shifts back to RWD because most AWD cars come with higher tread wear all round tires stock. They do better than RWD because they have the extra wheels giving traction. But with an R compound or DR - now the RWD car is cutting 60's at a level the AWD car cannot. Also for the simple reason a RWD can heat its tires.
At the highest level RWD cars are superior to AWD cars as the record ET's prove. |

I am 100% sold on this new platform. Having owned an E60 M and currently in a modded F10, I am putting up my car for sale. I was planning a forged/built motor but have not been satisfied with some of the results by the reputable builders. My car recently dyno'd in the 640-50 whp and love the way it runs but it is a RWD car and has lots of limitations. There are five people in my area I would run right off the bat. Hellcats, Demon and some modded Vettes.

Cause I think the 'Vette would kick ass - so like you said, he just wanted to see what the M5 could do

// EDIT: just saw his post below, so confirmed I guess. This isn't the only video out there; check out the others. There are plenty out there with the F90 taking down Huracans and 911s... and more Vettes. The numbers don't lie; the M5 with tweaked exhaust and a piggy has already cracked the 1/4 mile in 10.2 secs. With just a piggy, there are numerous cars in the 10.3s. Last edited by limeypride; 03-24-2019 at 02:15 PM.. |

What are the hardware differences (exhaust, tune or other) between the M5 competition and the M5 base model?
