What would you guys do if dealer does this to you?
I took my car in for service because i had a message saying replace battery.
I took the car in dropped it off and i dont hear anything from them for almost 3 weeks. I dont hear anything from them and i called and first they said they can not replace battery because i have a after market software. But my car is 100% stock. Later they say its because i have subwoofer and amp thats why battery went bad.( i used to have amp and woofer but took it out long time ago, and cable was laying in the car, but oem cable and battery was properly installed) I didnt even wanted to argue and i kinda check my car this one night and i saw my car is unlocked and i got pissed off and decided to just bring the car back. Now here comes the interesting parts I went to get my car and i didnt feel where my car was parked was safe location. Becuase i was able to walk to where my car is without being questioned. How would you guys feel If you went to go get ur car and trunk is open, hood is open, doors are unlocked window is rolled down? I had less than 30 dollars in car got stolen ( which doesnt bother me much because i purposely put it there to test them ) Memory card from the dash cam got stolen) What really still bothers me in the head is scanner being stolen thats worth $3k. I known its my fault for having it there but i wasnt home when the car was towed to dealer. And didnt think about taking it out. Its not the matter of taking what item or not, its the principle that they shouldn't be taking stuff from a car thats not theirs. I told the director but he seems fishy and that dealership def has something going on. |

Well as much as it sucks you leaving valuables in the car is a bit on you. At any time you could have went to the dealer and grabbed your personal belongings.
Why would you leave $30 to “test” the dealer? Sounds like you’re fishing for issues. Your car looks to be hooked up to a battery charger or some diagnostics process. Maybe they couldn’t lock your car or whatnot because they didn’t want to get locked out or needed the car to be on (like coding requires ignition on and seatbelt locked up etc.). Aftermarket software could mean coding and not a tune. Technically coding can cause issues if the dealer wants to play hardball. How do you know the tow truck driver didn’t steal your stuff? Your car was in the back lot and probably was met with a no trespassing sign. I can understand why the dealer is not jumping at replacing your valuables. Not saying you did but you could also have easily walked off with your stuff to get the dealer to pay (mindset of the GM). Either way, hope it works out. |

Please explain why you would wait 3 weeks to find out about a battery replacement?
Why in the world would you not call the dealer EVERY DAY asking for a status? There is no way in the world for a battery replacement I would wait longer then a day.

Sure. Carry on. If you have photographic proof that your stuff was in the car when it was taken in by the dealer, maybe file a police report for theft. Tell the GM that your stuff went missing under his care and hope for the best. Hoping they don’t throw the “We’re not responsible for your valuables” boilerplate legalese. Have you asked them to review the camera footage? Last edited by BzsBimmer; 11-24-2020 at 08:47 PM.. |
