I thought the N55 had no throttle blade, since it has Valvetronic. Is that incorrect?

-Actual dbw throttle
-Oil temp
-DME boost target

-Air intake temp

The CAN logic is a bit different from that of the n54 so this job was harder than expected. The scaling is also different on many of the channels which came as a surprise. But so far, I'd say we are 80% of the way to have a fully functional v4 tune for the n55. With autotuning to follow a few weeks after (firmware update only).

I'm saving up!! I already got use to the stock power and I can't have all these tuned camaros and mustangs beating me on the tracks...

It does indeed have a throttle blade. I've confirmed it with my own eyes. My guess is that is is required in turbocharged valvetronic applications.

I read somewhere that the throttle blade was there as a back-up in case the valvetronic system malfunctioned.

This is good news... Now if we could only get someone to transplant a larger Twin Scroll, and have it tuned by the V4, we would have some serious power... Maybe not N54 levels of power, but something nice...

^^
Need to find out which one they used exactly, then we can cross select a more powerful twin scroll... As long as it fits in the space constraints that are present with the current turbo.

There goes your new warranty (not that anyone who tunes/mods cares about warranty)

Once the above has been done, and a suitable turbo is selected, it's a matter of installation of said turbo, and also having Shiv Create a custom tune that will support said turbo.

BUT that may take a while, as Shiv is just creating a tune that supports the stock system, but it'll be a step in the right direction.

Well i think it would be easier to replace this single turbo than the twins on the n54.. then again i could be way wrong...

i've read in some bmw technical documentation that their is a throttle blade included in all valvetronic engines. it is used for idle and various other operating conditions when valvetronic is not capable of sufficiently controlling air flow.

That would make good sense. Pretty darn cool.

Looks like it's a custom borgwarner turbo made for BMW - http://www.turbos.bwauto.com/press/n...=272&year=2010. Shiv, can you comment?

Note, they don't mention what type of custom job it is... Has anyone taken a look at the turbo yet? Taken measurements?

+1 how easy would it be to slap on a bigger turbo? Or would it need a new flange etc.?
