I’m signed up for 9/20-9/21. What dates are you there? I’ve done the 2-day M school in SC and had a blast. Bring good shoes you’re comfortable in but are good for driving (flat sole, not bulky). It’s going to be hot, so shorts and shirt. That’s about all you really need.

8/7-8/8. Do you know if they would allow me to stick a go pro inside the car?

They had no problem with me bringing mine in SC. They actually had little phone mounts on the windshield that would hold pretty much any smartphone. Ended up using that since it was more convenient when getting in and out of cars constantly thru the day.

I am thinking of bringing a suction cup and mount it on the inside with a go pro. Do they allow you to charge the phone in the car?

I don’t see why not. Just keep in mind, you’re in a group with several others that are ready to get going once they adjust their steering wheel and seat. If you’re spending a bunch of time mounting cameras, charging your phone, adjusting everything— you’re going to slow the group down. Make it quick and enjoy the moment.

Yup, it's no problem at all. I did the 2 Day Advanced M School and they had Ram phone mounts on the windshield of every car so people could video if they wanted to.

Some folks bring multiple GoPros and they have no problem with that either.

Also, the 2 day program includes lodging. I extended one extra night so I wouldn't have to drive home (4 hour trip) after the last day. You can get the BMW rate.

You'll be fine. I've even mounted on the outside with no issues other than it falling off and having to retrieve it after the session.

Not necessarily with the included lodging these days with the COVID. I think there are separate prices for with hotel and hotel included. The included one will be the Hotel Paseo in Palm Desert which is a good hotel located next to many places to eat, unlike the old location for BMW

Pre Covid had prices both with and without hotel. I just figured that most people booked it as a package.

Go pro is attached to a suction cup already and it's as easy as slapping it on a window and hitting record. It takes less time than putting on a seatbelt. I was just wondering if they allow that.

I assume having a small backpack with you is not an issue.

You can bring all the gear you want to the facility, but you can't have the bag in the car while on the track.

There is plenty of time to get cameras set up as long as it isn't something as complex as shooting the kitchen screen of the Copa Cabana in Goodfellas. Lol

I went for the two day as well and it included lodging. The place you stay at is amazing, as well as the food.

You can get your gear setup but yes, they don't want things flying around inside the car while on the track.

The whole experience was well worth the money, IMO.

As someone who is scheduled for the 1 day M School in SC, I’m trying to understand what the benefit would be to running a GoPro. Is it just because you want some video of you driving?

Yup. Pretty much.

I used the in car phone mounts when I was there. Video came out okay enough for me.

Memories and improvement of driving lines.
