I don't; know what happened to the original post. I uploaded it and THEN looked at it.....strange behavior.
Next I am cleaning up the mess which is my garage and painting and tiling the floor. Too dam many outstanding garages on this website. I am embarrassed by my mess. LOL...... Mike

Moving to Michigan from California, it was only at the last minute that I decided to add the garage heater to the build of the house. I’m so glad I did! Mine’s a Reznor unit, only 60,000 BTU but it heats the three car garage nicely from mid 30s to 50 F in about 20 minutes. I can go warmer of course, but 50 is comfortable when it’s in the teens outside.

Is this a DIY home project or is a contractor doing it? With your location I imagine you have a lot of snow on the roof. Cutting the exhaust vent in will be fun, and I hope there’s a gas line handy, as well as the electrical? You’ve had these before, you know how much better the space is to work in with heat! I hope all goes well!

Gas source is about 35 foot run from furnace. Electrical will be just plugged into the outlet for the garage door opener. This heater only draws 6 amps. Venting Horizontal. Did not want to cut a hole in the roof, but where I am I could as there is attic space above where the heater is going. But I'm keeping it simple. The garage has a section of outside wall I can cut through. I have been putting this off too long. And I want hot and cold running water in the garage too. That's next weekend when the garage is nice and warm to work in. I'm picking up the black pipe tomorrow. That will run about $350. The heater was $469. The vent kit (stainless) was $400. I'll need $50 in odd and ends for mounting. My labor is priceless. So about $1300. If I had the "GUY" do it it would be $5000. plus mishaps and excuses. Just for comparison. I have built my own in ground pool (15 x30) with gas heater, etc. Only had help pouring the concrete for the decks. That's too much to DIY, but did all prep myself. I installed a whole house 18,000 watt natural gas generator including wiring to the main box. LOL. Those wires are HUGE. It's not rocket science. Mike

My John Deere 445 is 20 years old. I have a power bagger and a two stage blower and a winter enclosure. It's running strong. My other tractor is a JD 2305 with back hoe and loader. I used that for the pool and to landscape our unfinished spec house yard. I have a tiller for it. It's just sitting in the yard.....rusting....
Still eyeing a Spyder. Mike

Dying Laughing. I have an Apple HomePod on the window sill. LOL. That Boombox has not been turned on for about 8 years or more. That now open space above the file cabinet was the home of a fully functioning Windows 98 computer with CRT monitor for years. I used it to run VAGCOM for my Audi's. It's in the basement now. I had to start the project by cleaning up that corner.

I put a sink in the garage just on general principles as a handy thing to have. I hadn’t realized in the weather we deal with, it’s helpful to have hot water for the hose to do small wash jobs when it’s just above freezing outside. |
